How do I transfer "Favorites" from external hard drive to Firefox browser on New Laptop Computer?

With the external drive connected to my new laptop, I have found the "Favorites" folder from the previous computer's Firefox browser. How do I transfer all of those items to the new laptop's Firefox browser? I have never done this before, so if you believe that you can provide some useful information, please be clear. Thank you. Any help would be appreciated.

Transferring files via external hard drive to new computer

You just need to connect the external hard drive to the new computer. Once it has connected and Windows recognizes the drive it should pop-up with the window asking what you would like to do (select the option to View Files). Also at this time open the folder on the new computer that you want to store the back-up files in. Make the external hard drive folder and the new computer folder sit side-by-side. Then while holding down the CTRL button on the keyboard click each file you want to move. When you are done selecting them - right click on any of the file selected and on the pop-up menu select "copy". Now go to the folder on the external drive and right click the mouse again and from the pop-up menu select "paste". This will just copy the file, that way you can keep the files on 2 different hard drives in case something happen to 1 of them.

Iintend to change my sata hard drive to a SSD hard drive. How do I format before change

When you install Windows on your new SSD hard drive you can then transfer data from your old hard drive using an USB hard drive adapter or install the old hard drive into an USB hard drive adapter case and use it as an USB external hard drive after you have transferred your data to your laptop.
When you connect the USB hard drive adapter to the laptop, the laptop will see it as an external storage device, you can then open the various folders anf files and copy them to your new hard disk.

How do I transfer files from old computer to new

You can't transfer programs, programs have to be reinstalled.

You can copy things like your My Documents Folder, My Pictures, My Videos, and Favorites to a usb flash drive or an external drive then put the drive into the usb port of the new computer and copy them to the appropriate folders (Documents, Pictures, Music, Videos, etc).

I got an old laptop and I bought a new toshiba laptop I just wanna ask how do I transfer my application and files from my old laptop to a new one using external hardrive, also wat external hardrive, and also...

Hi,
You can transfer the data files only from the old laptop to the new one. You cannot transfer the installed applications/software. Software are required to installed again on the new laptop afresh.
To transfer the data you can use external portable hard disk, which can be connected to the PC using any USB port (just like pen drive) and you can copy - paste the required data to the external disk just like you copy data from one partition to another. After copying the required data, you can connect the external drive to new laptop and copy the data to the new laptop. You can use external drive of any brand/ capacity. However, it is better to have an external drive with larger capacity, so that you can transfer the data in one go.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

How to transfer the data from the system to p.c

jamal_bshr,

There are many different ways to move your data from one system to another. It really comes down to what's cost-effective and what you have on hand.

The best way would to purchase an external hard drive (Western Digital's MyPassport series are my favorites due to reliability), then simply plug the drive into a USB port, move your files to the external hard drive, then copy the files from the external hard drive to your new/other computer.

Another option is to get some CD-R/RWs or DVD-R/RWs and burn your data to the CD/DVD, then move the data to your new/other computer.

Hope this helps.

Question about transferring files from computer hard drive.

Is your other drive an external or an internal drive??? If external then attach it to the USB port and see it as an additional drive in My Computer. Then you can use it as any other drive.
If an internal drive then you will have to purchase an adapter that can take this drive and get connected to the PC/laptop to through the USB port. Again visible on My Computer as additional drive and can be used such.

I want to transfer data from my dial-up desktop, to my new laptop high-speed broadband. How?

Several ways:
1.) 4GB flash drive
2.) External USB drive (320GB or more)
3.) Burn CD or DVD on the desktop and copy to the laptop
4.) Connect them in a local or ad hoc network (not too easy)
I'm sure other expers will have more ideas...

Anyway, at the desktop, run the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" to gather your desktop info, such as favorites, desktop icons, My Documents, etc:
[Start]
[All Programs]
[Accessories]
[System Tools]
[Files and Transfer Wizard] [Next]
At the desktop, answwer [Old Computer] [Next]
Cintinue to answer the questions
If you have a lot of music or loots of pictures, then just transfer the "Settings Only".

After a successful transfer of the settings, run the wizard again and transfer your "Data Only"

Hope this gets you started.

You need to purchase an external enclosure and install the old laptop hard drive in it. Then plug it into your desktop and copy the files .
Buy it here:
