HAYWARD HEAT PUMP POOL HEATER FAN WON'T SPIN

if your meaning the top mounted fan , if the compressor does run , and the top fan does not , fans do go bad there not too expensive and don't require a rocket scientist with a truck load of tools to replace them , two biggest things to look for are Height of fan away from hitting solid object (compressor) and match wires color for color (turn power off !!!) , replace capacitor as well they aren't included with motors there extra !!! new motors do say on package what size capacitor to buy (it might be different than old one?)

Check the blower motor capicator. It should be mounted close to the motor with 2 wires to it (brown,brown/white).
Turn the blower on the thermostat and spin the squirrel cage by hand and see if it runs after by itself. If it does then definitely the capicator is bad .If it still doesn't run then check to see if there is voltage going to motor.
If thermostat is calling for fan and there is voltage present at the motor terminal then the motor is bad

Check to ensure fans are getting enough amperage to run at proper speed. turning your heat on removes heat form the engine and puts it into the passenger compartment. It could be possible that a sensor on the fan is not allowing the fans to spin fast enough or the fans may have a sensor which controls the speed of the fan to coincide with the heat that needs to be removed. Generally, your thermostat needle should sit just slightly below half. Do not run engine anywhere near the red zone as damage can result

Is the compressor running? Take a look at the contactor in the outside unit and see how it looks and if it is pulled in energizing the fan and compressor. If the compressor is running then check for voltage at the fan. If you have power at the fan and it isn't running then turn the power off and check the capacitor. It may have just 1 for both the fan and compressor. If the capacitor is ok then the fan motor could be bad. You will need a multimeter with a capacitor check function to test the capacitor. Hope this helps. Let me know what you find.

I HAVE A 2000 LR3 THAT HAS BEEN OVER HEATING, I CHANGE THE THERMOSTAT, AND STILL IT OVER HEATS. DO I NEED A WATER PUMP?

a water pump leaks when they go bad see if you fan clutch is still good if you give it a spin it should only go a few inches if it spins to free its not working right or flush you system out and clean the fins of the rat but if it get hot at stop lights and not as much on the highway its your fan clutch

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan stops spinning after 15 mins

Capacitor, dirty condencer coil causing the motor amps to run too high. But most likely worn bearing on blade side of motor causing it to pull to one side causing it to over heat and shut down. Sleve bearings should have no side play.

i would check the blades on the condenser fan motor and make sure they are not hitting anything if they are not, spin the fan see if the fan spin freely, it should, if it doesn't it could be the bearing in the motor are dry and going bad

Radiator fan motor on my 1998 cavalier

Normally, the fan will not spin at the same RPM as the engine. This is the purpose of the fan clutch. On the fan clutch sits a little thermal spring that engages the clutch to spin the fan at the same rpm as the motor when the motor gets hotter than normal.

Being able to hold onto the fan while the motor is running, is normal (not recommended, but normal).
You can test the clutch by heating it and then trying to spin the fan while the motor is off. If it is still easy to spin, you could have a bad fan clutch, or you didn't heat it enough. It is kind of a crappy way to test.

You not having cooling issues leads me to guess that your clutch is alright. But I don't know what type of climate you live it, nor do I know in what condition your clutch is.

They can actually be difficult to replace. Easy theory, but actually doing the job may be harder than you think. They are threaded onto the water pump pulley (just one big threaded stud). To remove you need to either be really crafty, or you need a wrench designed to hold the pulley in place while you loosen the clutch and fan assembly. No, the pulley drive belt is not enough to keep the pulley from turning (it will either slip or you will turn the crank of the motor).

Usually they are on there pretty tight! When I replaced my water pump on my truck, I could not remove the fand and clutch from the water pump while in the truck (I had to remove my radiator shroud and remove it all in one piece) then I had to weld the old water pump impeller to the casting to keep it from spinning then broke it loose with a 2ft breaker bar! Seriously.

Once you get the old one off, remove the fan and bolt it to your new clutch unit. Then thread it on the water pump.
