You need to explain in more detail the problem you are having so you can receive accurate advice
i need to know exactly what you r doing when the problem occurs like is it an audio disc or dvd or sofrware and what is the make and model # of your computer so i can assist you and you should also try the laser cleaning disc that u can get at most electronics retailers like best buy or a local music(cd store like karma) shop. also could try running the driver program off of your recovery disks if none of this works u should send me a message and let me know all that u have done to that point ill probably tell u that should run the recovery program after u remove and save all the files that you want to keep like pics and movies (thats the reason i suggest www.carbonite.com and enter the promo code RUSH for a discount this is a worry free way to back up your computer while not breaking the bank buying all those dvd/cd/memory cards HAVE A VERRY NICE DAY

THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
HOPE THIS HELPS
SINCERELY

The disk-drive (holding your data and the Operating System) has failed. So, Windows cannot start.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Disc read errors typically show a drive crash. Meaning you would have to replace your hard drive. Most of the time the data is lost but you could pay for data recovery if you have important items on it.

Either the disc you are trying to read has an error or your optical drive has failed.

Just bought a used dell alienware m15 laptop. I7 intel core I turned it on once... and it booted extremely slow!!!! Than it would not open any apps... or reall do anything besides move the cursor around...

I would do a complete operating system reinstall.
The M15x uses a program called Dell Datasafe Local Backup for factory restores. You can access this program from launching the application from within Windows (it is on the Start Menu), or by using the F8 Windows Boot Options menu. Press F8 after the iniital POST screen (Alien Face), but before you see the Windows logo on the screen. There should be an option to repair Windows, which will launch you into a recovery mode that allows you to restore the system. This option is available even if you have uninstalled the Dell DataSafe Local Backup app from Windows (I did, as its constant polling causes stutterin in Blu-Ray playback). Good luck!

Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart error

Is it a black screen right when you boot your computer? If so this could be a fatal disk error and the harddrive has crashed.

There is no easy fix other than to replace the harddrive.

That would be a hard drive failure. Unfortunately the your only option is replacement.

Problem with a disk read error

There are a couple of possibilities.

1. The hard drive is defective.

2. The operating system is corrupt.

The easiest way to test this is to run the restore cd that came with the computer to reload Windows.

If you get this error while running the restore cd then you will need to get a new hard drive.
