Keypads are sensitive to the elements, water, dust and grime. Any of these can cause a problem with the device. Blow out the keypad with canned air if you can. If it still fails, you may have to replace the keypad. If that is Not and Option for you, simply get a Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, attach the transceiver that comes with the mouse set and away you go.

Rarely does anything good come from dropping a laptop. It could be a loose connection or the keyboard needs replacing. Open the laptop and reseat the keyboard connection.

Keyboard no longer lights up and the sound from the fn button no longer works

Hello,

It is possible that the connection between the keyboard and the laptop is the issue. If you can figure out how to remove the keyboard, you will see it is connected to the laptop with a flat ribbon cable. Open the plastic clip that holds the flat cable (carefully!!) and then reconnect the cable. If that doesn't fix it, you may want to contact asus to get a replacement keyboard, or just plug in a usb keyboard.

Hope this helps!

I have a ASUS G73J and I cant get the lights for the keyboard to turn on.

Hello. This is what I do every time my keyboard lights go off. Go to program. Click open Asus Utilities, Click open e-driver, which will let you down load all the drivers for your Asus computer. You should see a number of options you can pick to down load or pick ATK Package for keyboard lights. I usually down load everything in case there was an update for my drivers.

I have Asus G73SW and after replacing primary disk with SSD, instaling Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and all the drivers from Asus Drivers CD the keyboard backlight (and also the lighting underneath the display)...

I recommend reinstalling Windows using the original recovery media from Asus. That should have all of the original drivers and software needed. You can alway upgrade to Windows 7 ultimate after that.

My keyboard on my ASUS g73jw-a1 no longer lights up. I turned it off once and it won't turn back on.

This looks as if its a newer model laptop. If it's w/in a year old, I would contact tech support as it may be hardware issues or a loose connection. They should be able to take you through troubleshooting steps. Otherwise, they may have you send it in for repairs.

How turn on keyboard backlight on my asus laptop

If you are asking about toggling the intensity of the backlit keyboard, just use the Function key and F3 to decrease the intensity and F4 to increase the intensity.

If it's not working at all, make sure you have the "ATK Package" installed. If so, uninstall and reinstall the ATK Package - that fixed mine.

If you don't have the ATK Package, find it at asus.com, install it, and run it.

Removing keyboard for ASUS A9rp

There are three little clips at the very top of the keyboard itself, if you lightly push them in starting at one side while very lightly prying on the keyboard you can lift it out and then just unhook the ribbon cable. That's it, really simple actually!!!
