Could be a bad exhaust valve seat, sticking exhaust valve and possibly a lean running carburetor which is causing the engine to stall out on loads.

you must have the throttle at full at all times when under load driving and mowing, back fire is do to much fuel. if your running throttle at full than look at the carburetor and then the wiring (short)

it has a sher pin that has sheard off look in the owners manual it will show you were its at when you got it it should have came with some
