Question about Samsung RESF3330D Electric Kitchen Range

Open Question

Samsung FER300SX electric oven/range

When baking I get very erratic temperature swings. The problem is almost always overheating. I have used the temperature adjustment process for the oven to no avail. It still overheats. I am assuming that it is the thermostat and not the heating element which is a hidden element in this model. Any ideas as to what the problem could be?

The oven will not maintain a set temperature and can vary by over 100 degrees higher or lower.

I have tried to adjust the sensor and that has not worked. I have looked to see if the broil element glows during preheating the oven and it does, so that is not the problem. I have checked to see if the bottom element, that is hidden under the floor of the oven , heats up and it does. I have looked at the oven and cannot find a thermistor/sensor in the oven cavity and there is no info I can find that says it has one. I see an element of some type in the cieling of the oven by the broil element but it looks like a disk of some type and not a tube like probe. A schematic I saw on some site showed a thermostat behind the back wall of the oven but I see no mention of it in my Samsung info. I think it is probably the thermostat but I need to know where it is and how to get at it.

SOURCE: Is there a design flaw in the Samsung ranges; i.e.

Any range with a built-in element ( the bottom element not exposed) takes on average 15 to 20 min to preheat. It's not only the samsung ranges.

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

The bottom oven is heating up very slow.

If you are having problems with your electric oven heating up too slowly, not being able to maintain temperature set point, or wild variations in temperature, then you probably have a bad baking element in your oven.

The bake element is the bottom element in your oven. The life span of these elements can vary depending on the usage of your oven and the quality of the element. Anything electric has an unpredictable lifespan. Elements made on the same assembly line can vary greatly in how long they last. But when the element burns out it will need to be replaced to have your oven work properly.

The thing the fools many people is that many ovens will use the broil element to preheat the oven and then switch to using the baking element only. When this happens the oven will no longer heat and will cool down. The unit may sense this and activate the broil element again which will cause wild swings in temperature and also can cause food to burn on the top self or not bake properly.

If you can see the elements, watch them and see if they both get red hot when initially warming the oven. If only the top, broil element gets hot then you have a burned out element or a bad contacts where the element plugs into. Usually lifting the element and pulling out on it will release the element. If the contacts are discolored or pitted then they could be causing your problems. By using an ohm meter you can check the resistance of the element. If you get no continuity through the element it is no good.Bad elements will often have blisters, bubbles, or even burn in two.

If the element contacts are bad, make sure the you replace both the element and the receptacle that the element plugs into. Replacing only the element will only temporarily solve your problem.

When baking the oven doesn't bake evenly and always bakes quicker than the time on recipes. Items burn and the middle is raw. Can the oven be recalculated to work better?? John

Electric ovens are always different from gas ovens. You have to set the temperature on average 10-15 degrees lower and watch out 15 minutes earlier if you are baking cakes, 5 mins for cookies etc. Always bake in the centre of the oven. use a metal bowl of water in another tray which may help balance out the temperature

Getting a error code F3E2

The F3 E2 error code indicates that the electronic oven control board in the range senses an over-temperature condition in the oven. This can be caused by a failed temperature sensor probe, a wiring problem between the sensor and the control board, or a failed electronic oven control board. If the oven is apparently not overheating when this error code appears, then your likely failure is the temperature sensor probe. If the oven is overheating, then you likely have a failed electronic oven control board due to a stuck relay not cycling the oven heating element off properly. I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair this oven failure. If you want to attempt to diagnose and repair this failure yourself, resubmit your question with additional details.
