SOURCE: How to replace Ryobi circular saw CSB140LZ lower guard assembly

Clean the area where the guard attaches to the hub assy. It is a snap ring that is holding the guard on. You will need to either use a pick or a small flathead screw driver in order to remove it. There should be a little tab that you will be able to work out. Look around the entire perimeter of the hub to locate it. You may need some extra light to see it. Stick the pick or small flathead behind the tab from the right. Work the tab out and above the hub. Now you can work your pick or scredriver around the perimeter to remove the ring. Install it in a similar fashion but use the flathead to guide the ring back into the groove, working it around the opposite way.

I bent the depth of cut scale on a Craftsman 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw. How to true it so I can again set correct depths?

With the saw unplugged, lay it upside down on a bench or table. Put a small scrap of 2x4 against the blade and adjust until the depth of the blade matches the thickness of the 2x4. Lock it in place, Then bend or adjust the depth scale so that it reads 1-1/2 inches. Good luck.

Saw cuts bevel at 0 degree setting. Needs to set to about 3 degrees for square cut. Multiple saws with this problem. Is something bent, or worn out?

Check that the bed of the saw (the flat metal part on the bottom) isn't bent. I've had this sort of thing happen on a jigsaw that needed to be tapped back into square. Check the squareness of the saw with a framing square or a carpenter's square held against the blade and the bed of the saw with the blade guard open. Obviously, make sure the saw is unplugged before doing this.

I bought a ls1016 coupond mitre saw this week. I was cutting cedar 2x6 's today and had a few kick backs. I am building my deck and do not feel safe using the saw after the kick backs. Why as this...

Sounds as if the blade is dull. Or perhaps bent. A dull or bent blade blade will 'grab' the wood, rather than cut it, resulting in binding, or kickbacks.

Solution; replace the blade with a fine-toothed, good quality blade. If the blade is new, then check that the blade is bolted tight on the arbor. If the blade is loose, it can result in kickbacks.

Also, check that all the bolts/fasteners/locking mechanisms on the saw are tight, and in good working order. Sometimes a tool new out-of-the-box will have loose screws/nuts/bolts that need to be tightened up.

Also, when cutting, use a smooth, slow, motion, being sure to give the saw the time it needs to make the cut.

Can a 7 1/4" circular saw blade be used to replace

Some furniture shops used 7 1/4 circular saw blade for other brands of circular saw. Based on my experienced it's applicable as long their is clearance for the blade not touch the adjustable safety cover of the unit. Thanks for asking FixYa.

We have a circular saw that must need to adjust the safety guard or something...it gets almost to the end of the board and the saw kicks back...we don't have instructions anymore and can't figure out how...

The only reason I can think of for the saw to kick back is if the blade is getting pinched in the wood.

Try holding up the other end as your cutting and pulling the cut apart.

My 24v bosch cordless saw just quit working. Battery is good, the blade spins easily no electric smell occurred. It just stopped working. I am thinking the trigger, possibly brushes. Any thoughts?

If it is a new lithium ion, they just stop dead when the battery is dead and just needs to be recharged. If that is not the problem then it sounds like the battery is not connected to the saw very well, see it the connections inside the saw are bent or damaged in some way.
