If internet light is off, its not connected to the net. Check all connections. If OK try pressing and holding the rest button for 30 seconds.

try using a phone to get onto your settings for your modem and check connectivity, which i suspect is fine, the problem is probably with your WIFI card, so try using a LAN cable to connect to your modem directly using port 4. DO NOT INSERT A PAPER CLIP TO RESET THE MODEM! unless you know how to reprogram the router, this includes having complete knowledge of ALL the settings required by the ISP AND having your username and modem password (modem authentication passwords are not usually provided to the customer) Doing a "hard boot" will only return your modem to factory settings

Check that is the actual address in use. They might have set up something else. In a DOS (cmd.exe) window use 'ipconfig' to see what the gateway address is. Use ping 192.168.1.1 to see if it is really there.

If you want password protection, you have to manage the router yourself. Download the manual and use the 'reset' button to take ownership of the router.

the comtrend router password has nothing to do with the PC you can reset the router and then use the default username and password - ASSUMING you already tried the username and password and it did not let you log into the router setup screen

You dont need a Belkin Disk to set up - this can be done manually you can get a manual from this site http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/product/list/q/routers/ select G in the first dropdown and then your model - theres two to choose from and then then the version
you have a choice - you could change the comtrend router to just use the modem - bridged mode - they have a few different routers see here http://www.comtrend.com/links/i$residential-adsl2-modem-router$product.htm so not sure which one you have if you can bridge to just use the modem then connect tothe Belkin and all PCs should connect to the Belkin
OR you can connect two routers together Leave the comtrend router set as it is -
Set the IP address of belkin router to same subnet as the comtrend. Depending on the DHCP range of the comtrend router - set the IP outside this range - so if comtrend is set to give an ip of 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.100 - set the belkin to 192.168.0.254 Disable the DHCP in the belkin.
Connect the comtrend LAN to one of the Belkin LAN ports - you may need to use a crossover cable. On the belkin the WAN port will be left unconnected

I cant solve your trouble based on what you are telling me ... but I would make the phone company fix it if I were you. If they cant accomodate the paying customer, there is always the cable company as an alternative.
