Question about Hotpoint Washing Machines

Hotpoint wdl520 washing machine not pumping out

I replaced the heating element which had shorted out causing the plug fuse to blow. Washer operates until its time to pump out but then clicks and all 5 lights begin to flash and the door unlocks but the lock indicator is still lit along with the green end light. I have stripped the pump down to see if anything is trapped and getting a resisistance of 224 ohms

SOURCE: washing machine fuse blows every couple of washes

the machine is pulling to much power.check to see if it is on a 15 or 20 amp outlet. you said you replaced the fuse. the amp size should be on it. if it is a 15 amp fuse, plug the machine into a 20 amp circuit and see if the fuse blows then. it shouldn't since it wasn't blowing everytime on the 15 amp circuit, but never put a 20 amp fuse in a 15 amp socket! the fuse can handle the load[ no pun intended], but the electrical wire would burn not blowing the fuse, thus causing a fire.
hope this helps.

If you have had a lightning storm or power surge it may have fried the electronics panel. That is what happened to mine. Once it is fixed you should put a surge suppressor on it that is rated for major appliances.

SOURCE: Washer stops prematurely with code 03

I too had this intermittent problem with my Bosch.  The repair people didn't seem to know what to look for until today.  This service technician, unlike the others, noticed the soot and looked at the circuit board.  He contacted the Bosch service center and was told it was probably a bad motor that had caused the circuit board to go bad and told him what to look for.  Sure enough, that was the problem.  Unfortunately, the previous technicians didn't do this while it was still under warranty for the electronics (5 years), so the cost to replace the motor and circuit board will be $770.  I think I'll buy another machine.

My hotpoint wdl520 washer dryer is no longer drying my clothes. I still spins but there is no heat for the clothes to dry. Is there a reset button on this model or is it going to be more serious??

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

I had similar problem due to heating element furring up and shorting against side! New element fitted by engineer now OK - It also uses much more electricity with this problem. The old element looked like it was bent so could more easily have shirted out!

Wd440g Hotpoint - in wash cycle and is blowing all the household

you will have a short circuit somewhere. usually the dryer box, but to get the water out you need to put the end of the drain hose lower than the water level into a basin to syphon it out.
the heating element of the dryer sometimes come loose on these machines and can be the cause of a short.

i am sending you all the possibilities for your problem, check either of these causes ----and than let me know if it is solved----

Power from the house
Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element
Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse
On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Hotpoint WD51 fuse issue

is it the motor that got hot?, if so then check the motor carbons for wear, as these heat up when worn, also if the carbons are fine check the pump and filters for blockages, this makes the motor spin while water is still in the machine causing the motor to overheat, and subsequently tripping and blowing the fuses etc hope i have helped a little
