How to fix pltv-26m

Hi,

That problem is 2 causes, its either power supply or system board.
This are some D.I.Y procedure for troubleshooting.

  1. Open the back cover by removing all screws at the back.
  2. Try to look at the power supply board and find the leak/bulge on top capacitors. If you found, replace it with the same type and ratings.
  3. If the power supply doesn't have any leak capacitors.Try to power it ON to perform voltage checking.
  4. Check the output voltage of power supply such as 5vdc,12vdc and 24vdc by using voltmeter. If this 3 supplies having a voltage drop or flickering voltage while on power ON.Check the following parts on the power supply, change value/open resistor, shorted transistor and diode or repeat step # 2.
  5. When the output voltage is stable and all parts looks OK.The problem could be on system board.Unfortunately the system board or main board is not for D.I.Y because the parts inside is very logic and very sensitive. That is replaceable.

Thank you and good luck.

The computer suddenly shut down & will not re-boot. On turning on there may be a few seconds to allow option of opening up in safe mode which is applied but within a few seconds the system shuts down...

Bad Power Supply.
Weak voltage power rail.

One of the leading causes of computer failure.
Replace the Power Supply.

[The next cause of failure is the computer is dirty inside, as well as inside the Power Supply's case.
Dirt, dust, etc, takes a Power Supply down quick ]

Need guidance of how to replace your Power Supply, or guidance in finding a decent replacement Power Supply let me know in a Comment.

P4P800 MB will not power up. Power switch only yields flashing lights. Turn off and wait and repeat yields same result. Disconnect power from all drives = same result.

You'll need to check the voltage output of your current power supply. The ATXPWR1 connector. See page 2-29 in your manual.
You will need a volt meater to check the power out-put for each.
The link provided should help you test your power supply; http://www.compute-aid.com/atxspec.html
If you feel this is a bit too difficult you can swap out your current ATX power supply with another. The power supply for the Asus MB should support a minimal of 300Watts output. Its recommended to use a 350 to 400Watt PS. Please provide what LED light is flashing and what color it is. Also include any beeps you may hear during boot up of the system. (Long, short and repeating if any). You can send me an email at triptic12@yahoo.com

Cheers

it could be any of the two. problem with your power supply section and mainboard. the reason it shut down repeatedly, is the unstable supply of dc voltage on your laptop. try using another charger/adaptor.if the mainboard is the culprit. you have a serious problem. visit your local service center.

FP-29 Yaesu Switching Power Supply Problem

The power supply is running, but there is a failure in the protection circuitry. Usually a shorted Zener diode or small signal transistor. The Op-Amp for the current limiter can cause the same symptom.

If the supply does this ONLY with the radio connected, there is usually one or more shorted PA transistors.
