Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook

No LCD connectivity

New Acer Aspire One Netbook will not communicate with Dell 3100 MP LCD Projector. I've tried everything including lowering the resolution on the Acer, restarting the computer, and toggling the Function Key and F5 (Netbook uses F5, not F8 for the LCD connection). Please help! I travel weekly to make PowerPoint presentations and need to have the Acer and any LCD talking to one another.

Good morning. The projector works fine with my Dell laptop. The Acer Netbook has not been hooked up to any other laptops (none in the house). The OS is XP. The netbook was plugged in when I connected. Information about the netbook: Acer Aspire One - A150-1505. Model ZG5. Serial number: LUS040B2358451042D2535.

Already tried this at least 24 times over the past two days!

Quick couple questions: Does the project work with other laptops? Does the Acer laptop work with other projectors? Also what OS is the netbook runnig? XP or a version of Linux? Also is the laptop plugged in or on battery power? And what is the model number/serial number of the machine?

Hello, I am using a Viewsonic lcd projector with my new Acer Aspire One. I did not have connectivity off the bat. Here's what I did: 1. Downloaded driver (unsigned, not the signed version worked - ie not os-specific) for the lcd projector to the Acer. Restart Acer. 2. With lcd projector connected to Acer, toggle function key & F5. But then, continue holding down the function key. A screen pops up with icons for laptop, laptop/monitor, dual monitor, and lcd projector. You continue to hold down the function key and then press the F5 key to move to the desired device. I had to repeat the same process to restore my Acer screen to the original proportion when not using lcd projector. I'm not sure if both steps 1 and 2 are necessary, but I did it simultaneously, so I'm not sure of the origin of success.

My Netbook Acer Aspire One will not hook up to the LCD projector.

Connecting an External Monitor or Data Projector
You can switch to anexternal monitor or data projector by two methods.1. Connect the externalmonitor to the laptop's video port, power up the external monitor first and thelaptop. The video information will automatically switch to the externalmonitor.2. If you power up thelaptop first then you can switch the video output to the external monitor bypressing the Fn key and one of the Function keys, depending upon your make andmodel laptop. You can also toggle between the external monitor or both LCDscreen plus the external monitor or back to LCD screen only by pressing the Fnkey plus one of the function key. If the netbook is running Windows 7 and the router is encrypted with WEP, then you can try changing the encryption to WPA or converting the WEP Key to HEX and entering the key in hex to the netbook

I need to show Powerpoint slides from my Acer Aspire One netbook. When I connect to the projector it does not work. Why?

Have you pressed Fn+F5? It commands using external monitor/ projector. Try this:
1. Connect to projector with projector in ON position
2. Restart your PC
If it won't work:
1. Restart your PC, press F8 frequently, choose "enable vga mode"

Acer Aspire 3100 series. Display screen getting dark

This is such a user error. I had the same problem on my 3100-1718. It was as simple as holding down the Fn key and using the left and right arrow keys to change the brightness... I am a goofball for ever letting this stay dark for a month !
