Fisrt thing to check is the monitor screen button.
if you clean your monitor there is chance that cleaning solution got inside the button and then even if you dont push on it, it does get a signal from the liquid trapped inside. you can try drying the solution with a hair dryer, but if the liquid leave a dry conductor inside the button this will be still there. the other option is to tear appart the monitor and unplug the button or manually try to clean the contact inside.

if you did not cleaned it, the menu button might simply be stuck in.
trying to release it can fix this.

Try to push the menu button on the tv itself numerous times and see if it will go away (since the buttons are not used often they become resistive and it could be any button,if that dont fix it then the main digital board is bad.

Exact same problem with mine mate, and it died very soon after. It refused to come on and would just 'click' away. TV is 24months old. Luckily I took out the extended warranty and Currys have it just now trying to fix it. Will let you know what they come back with!

Main menu inviting to take a tour on how to adjust the monitor keeps popping up uninvited.

Your screen settings are not optimized for that monitor, most Gateways (to h*&%) come with a drivers disks for the monitors put that in and run setup for the monitor.

LCD Main MEnu

hi,

It is possible that menu button on the monitor is stuck. I suggest to call your computer manufacturer where you purchased the monitor, check for the warranty and request for a replacement.

Keep me posted.

Thanks

Menu keeps popping up!

I had this same problem with the Main Menu coming up on my Dell Monitor E171FPb and I thought I would tell you what I did to fix the problem.

1. I shut down the PC.
2. I removed the power cable and video cable from the back of the monitor.
3. I removed the four screws that hold the stand for the monitor and slid the stand off.
4. I then removed the 5 screws that hold the back cover on the monitor.
5. I took two flat blade screw drivers and carefully removed the back cover.

At the bottom of the monitor case, there is a small circuit board the holds the 6 switches for controlling the display.

6. I located the button that calls up the Main Menu. It is the second switch from the left as you are looking at the monitor from the rear.
7. I used a small solder iron and heated up the four prongs in sequence while holding the switch with a pair of needle nose pliers. I had to rotate this process from one prong to the other while all the time applying slight pulling pressure on the switch pulling it away from the circuit board.
8. Once the switch was removed, I put the cover back on and tightened up the five screws.
9. Then I slid the base back in the slot it came from and tightened the four screws.
10. I connected the video and power cable and turned on the PC.

With the switch removed the Main Menu never popped up again and I am so very happy.

ok i think i know how to get rid of it now, i did an ATX reset on it and it does go away HOWEVER as soon as you push the menu button again it comes back.

ATX Reset: unplug the main power lead then hold down the power button on the front of the monitor for about 10 seconds, plug the mains lead back in and then switch the monitor on.

Main menu / positioning /

Sounds like a button is sticking. Does it seem too sensitive? It should give a little resistance when pressed and have about 0.1" of travel. Try gently prying outward on the offending button with a pin or needle. If you're comfortable taking the monitor apart, do so and check the alignment of the menu buttons.
