I called my Mechanic he said i have an antifreeze leak and will probably blow a head gasket or heater core uggg....

  • Wayne Conlon Jan 03, 2014

    Are you losing antifreeze

  • Wayne Conlon Jan 03, 2014

Did you have to put antifreeze in it again

  • Thunder64 Jan 03, 2014

after it over heated the first time yes we did put in half of jug then when we got home we filled it again... there are no visable leaks anywhere...

  • Thunder64 Jan 03, 2014

i drove it today... everything seems fine.. however, I just stayed in town

  • Wayne Conlon Jan 03, 2014

If you were low on coolant a second time and youre not leaking on the ground then your head gasket is blown. Did he put the cooling system under pressure to see if the pressure went down?

  • Thunder64 Jan 03, 2014

no he just poured it directly into the overflow... we dont have a pressure tester..

  • Thunder64 Jan 03, 2014

but it drove today and was pumping out heat as normal.. I was hoping the thermostate was just stuck... ugg sounds like a big pricey fix!

  • Wayne Conlon Jan 03, 2014

Take it to a mechanic and have him pressure test the cooling system. If it holds pressure, then its the thermostat. If it doesnt hold pressure, then its a head gasket

well thats what I will do... thanks

Are you losing antifreeze? A bad thermostat left unattended will blow a head gasket. Especa

No heat in 2001 dodge stratus, changed Thermostat still blows cold air?

Check the coolant level. If its low you wont get any heat. If its full then I would suspect that the temp. selector on the climate control is faulty. Farley easy to replace. Your local you pull parts yard will have one for $20-$35.

Car over-heats and heats blows cold air

It sounds like the radiator is low on coolant.
You could also have air pockets in the cooling system if the system is not full of liquid.

Engine suddenly over heated, no hot heating in car

most newer car use shut down as a safety feature whenever the temp gets really hot it turns off to save the motor. check your fans if they turn on if they do you might have a bad thermostat.

A/c blows warm air when idle, when vehicle accelerated blows cold air. what gives?

when a vehicle stops but is still running it produces a lot of heat, since you still feel some cold air from your ac ,it is working, however maybe not up to par or its just not as much as you would like. The reason it feels cooler when you are driving is the ability to get rid of the heat from the motor because the airflow pulls away the heat from the engine and helps the cooling system.

The ac starts out cold and stays that way on hwy driving but starts blowing warm air in stop and go traffic. why?

Either clutch coil is heating up and letting go Or one of the sensors is defective. Or there is a restriction somewhere in the line (open up hood and look for frost on a/c lines.)
