Yamaha reciever doesnt recognise hdmi from Mac laptop

Well I'm guessing you want to play your playstation through HDMI? If so are you currently using scart lead red white and yellow. What you have to do is use the scart lead red white and yellow and connect to the tv and connect the HDMI to the Yamaha as you do already. Turn on using tv go to Settings>video output change to HDMI then done

Any dock will work, as long as it fits into the input jack for your yamaha.

Look closely at the rear connector panel of the receiver and look for pieces of stray strand wire that may be touching the speaker A binding post and the receiver chassis. If you are not using strand wire connection to the binding post then check whatever connector type you are using such as banana plug or spade plug for breakage or corrosion, the same goes for the speaker cable itself which isn't always so easy to detect. A few broken strands can cause a problem.
If it is clean, turn off the receiver and disconnect the speaker cable. Check the binding post for tightness; if you can wiggle it then it is broken and needs to be replaced.

I had the same problem and found you have to connect the yellow video cable directly to the TV. Am finding that the component cables plugged into the receiver are not delivering video through the HDMI out to the TV.
I have the same problem with plugging in a video camera to the V-Aux on the front of the receiver and still havent figured out how get the video to show up on the TV, so if you find something else out please post.

check all connections to and from the amp. have you got animals in the house. They can accidenty pull plugs while exploring behind your units.

It's just a power cable. Get something like this

and lop off the end that doesn't fit, strip them and either splice it to the remnants or go inside and connect it to where the original goes.

Check the internal fuse inside the unit. If it goes again, after replacement, get back in touch with us. If OK check the transformer and the power switch.

You need a monitor cable that allows to you connect via component or HDMI/DVI

Those samsungs usually come with HDMI and you can buy a dongle for about 20-30 bucks that has the monitor plug for your mac on one end, and an HDMI out on the other. Usually it's only video though and not sound.

I would check your center speaker wiring and setting. Then switch to a different audio setting (pro logic, theater...)

Check the settings on the receiver. You may need to switch the dvd from analog to digital or hdmi.
