Question about Vorwerk Home

Open Question

I have a Vorwerk 121. The 'blocked' light goes on as soon as I switch it on. I have checked the brushes; one of them isn't rotating, it seems blocked. I removed each brush and removed any gunk hair etc but the brush still isn't turning. The bolt thing that the brush is sitting on seems to be able to turn but the brush doesn't turn when on it.

SOURCE: the brushes won't turn.

There are two reason why the "Turbine" will not rotate. A: It is an air driven device, so if there is not enough air flow through it, it will not rotate. I beleive there is a lint screen on the bottom of the unit that slides down and can be cleaned out. Make sure the recovery tank lid is on properly and there are no missing gaskets in the airflow path. B: The turbine is locked up. This happens a lot. You should be able to rotate the brushes on the block by hand will they are locked into the machine easily(this will manually rotate the turbine. If you can't then your turbine is locked up. What you do then is romove the hood. Screws hold it down in the front and it pops into place in the back. Take out the turbine. There are two screws on the top and two accessed from the bottom of the unit. There are a four screws and a few locks that hold the turbine together. Take it apart, but be careful as to how the gears and washers are arranged and not to lose any small parts. You can usually free it up by hand by rotating the fan on the opposite of the gear box. Once it is freed you can apply a lubricant to prevent it from happening again. I use spray lithium grease. There usually isn't enough lubricant applied in on the gears at the factory, so once you do this, you shouldn't have this problem again. When you first run the machine again it might blow a little excess grease out of the exhause, so to be safe don't fire it up on the carpet, when you first test it. The gearbox may need to be replaced if it is damaged and not just locked up, but this rarely happed. Also, try not to lean the machine all the way back(place the handle on a chair or something) over time it tends to tear the hose inside of it.

Good Luck

SOURCE: rotating brush will not turn on my Dyson DC07

Yes I had the same problem on my animal Dysom. There is a button on the top of the dysom that turns the cacuum on. Right beside that button is another one that turns on and off the brush!!! Good luck!!! I accidently one day bumped that button and couldn't get my brush to work but after troubleshooting it, that was my solution.

SOURCE: brush won't turn

The Agitator Overload switch is located on the top of the base assembly. Unplug the vacuum and press the reset button. The vacuum also has thermal protection, which will reset itself once the vacuum cools. The agitator will also stop when the vacuum is in the full upright position.

SOURCE: The rotator brush stopped turning. it turns fine

The brush roll will only spin when your handle is not in the locked upright position, once the handle goes upright - the brushroll de-activates

Have a de walt mitre compound saw 712xe; it has been stored for some time, and does not go when I squeeze the switch.. there is definitely power on the plug.

there is few blocks (physical) which restrain it's movement, but electrical is only and only switch.

check cord to the saw, if power is positively on and no joy, you need
om-meter (resistance) and if you have, continuity meter (i made one from 1.5v battery, 1.5v bulb and about 3m of speaker wire, i done that in 1964 and i am still using it...)

!. unplug power supply
2. rotate blade by hand and check if it rotates freely
3. tap gently on the sides of motor where brushes are
4. remove brushes cover and check they status (sometime bit of dust get there and it is stuck preventing contact)
5. using compressed air - blow all dust from brushes and brushes mounts
6. replace brushes and covers
7. try to start machine again,

if no joy, to exclude cabling and switch:

!. unplug power supply
2. lift the switch cover (of the memory i think it is six screws)
3. check for obvious burns or acrid smell
4. check now for cable to the plug continuity
5. check switch working on both sides
6. replace cover
7. try to start machine again,

if all of these were ok - it will indicate problem with motor, check therefore motor electrical continuity and flows

i hope you will find this little instruction helpful, do not forget to vote :-)

Brushes won't spin anymore

There is a spring that goes on an arm, #32 in the picture. It actuates the turbine so the brushes will turn when the handle is tilted back, and stopped when upright. This might be where that spring goes. You may have to take the top cover off to put in on. After you get it on, and the brushes still don't turn, look up in the square hole where the shaft on the brush block goes into, turn the unit on and see if it is turning, if not then the turbine either needs to be taken apart and cleaned or replaced. The turbine is what drives the brushes.

Hard to push now on the rugs and does not seem to be picking up as well

Take your base plate off, 5 screws usually hold it on, and check to see if your brush roller end blocks need to be rotated. If you see several little hash marks on the side facing up, pull the bearing blocks out and rotate them until just one hash mark is showing and then put the brush back in. I would also suggest that you change your belt at this time as well. If you already have just one hash mark showing you probably need to replace your brush roller. Hope this helps.

Brush bar doesn't rotate.

Either the bearing in the rotating brush is bad and isn't allowing the brush to turn, or in the majority of cases, the belt is broken.

Turns on, brush rotates, but no suction.

the only thing i know about vacs is if there is no suction its blocked might have sucked up a piece of plastic bag and wraped around the fan hence no air or the screw that holds the fan has come loose take your filters out and turn on you may have sucked up fluid and not known it hence filters are blocked also brushes may seem alright but may be worn under half there fore springs are not at right tentsion if your armiture is black where the brushes run on may not be getting a good contact or if it smells burnt good chance you burnt it out then theres the power switch test with multi tester the check for loose terminals then test the field coils are correct ohms as well

There is no belt, the brush block is turned by a turbine. Check the brush block, make sure that the shaft that goes into the turbine isn't broke off, If ok, then replace the turbine, or take it apart and clean it out.

Take out the brush block, make sure that the shaft is ok, it goes up into the turbine, which is what drives the brushes. If the shaft is ok, then the turbine either needs to be cleaned and lubed, or replaced.

Did you clean both filters? There is one on the tank and the other is from the bottom, it ha a red frame, pull it out to clean. Pull the brush block out, is the shaft that goes up into the machine broken off? If so replace the brush block. While it is out, trn the machine on and see if the square hole up where the brush block goes, is turning. If not then the turbine has gone bad. You can sometimes clean the turbine out, otherwise replacing it may be the best option.

The brushes do not rotate

The brushs are driven by a turbine, if not turning, it may be bad. You can take it apart and try to clean it out, or just replace it. Also pull out the brush block and see if the shaft that goes up into the turbine is broken off, itis broke, then replace the brush block.

Pull out the brush block, do the brushes turn freely and is the shaft that goes uo into the turbine there or did it break off. If the brush block is ok, then the turbine is probably bad and will need to be replaced.
