Newer versions of Java does not work on Pelco dx2000. You have to use Microsoft's VM version of Java, which is no longer offered by Microsoft, but you may be able to find it somewhere. current Java (from Sun) needs to be uninstalled. this makes the computer compatible with DX2000, but not the Internet as is it today. Kinda sucks, eh?

How to set a passward for my router

You need to log into your router's configuration page. In your web browser's address bar, you type:
http://192.168.0.1 and hit enter (that is the IP address of your router from the factory). To log into your router, the default username is admin and the password is left blank. Once you're in the router config page, you can set whatever settings you want. Just be careful if you change the username, password, etc. because you'll need them to get back in once you do.

Can,t find link to enter code

By "code" I take it you mean the router password for the configuration page. In order to reach this page, you must type in your router's IP Address. To find the IP Address of the router, use a computer that is successfully connected to the router, go to run (windows key + r) and type in cmd. This opens up command prompt. From here, type in "ipconfig" (without the "). Once you do this, look for the default gateway address (might just be called default gateway). The default gateway is your router's IP Address. Take that address and copy it, then, paste it into a web browser's address bar. Once you do that, and go to it, you will be asked to log in. Log in (if you need help with logging in, please comment), and you will be in the router's configuration page.
Hope this helps.

Xbox restrict chat . csomeone told me a NAt setting needs to be changed. I have a netopia 3347 router help children are screaming

Before You Start
Browse into the Netopia's web interface at http://192.168.1.254 (if using the default IP setting). If your network has a different IP addressing scheme, modify this accordingly.
Login with the admin user name and password. Admin login is required to save changes. If you are unsure of this, contact your network administrator.
Once logged in, click on the Expert Mode link in the left-hand side menu (if that link is visible). In the Expert Mode Confirmation screen click on Ok to continue. This menu bar will be visible at the top of your screen if you are in Expert Mode.

Remember to click the Submit button to save any entries. Hitting the back button without clicking Submit will undo any changes.
Once you have completed your configuration, click on the 3000save.gif symbol in your upper right hand corner to validate the changes. Then click on Save and Restart.

  4. "Check" Enable Default Server.
  5. When the Default Server box appears, enter the NAT Server IP Address for the specified internal host to which NAT traffic should be directed.
  6. Click on Submit.
  7. Click on the 3000save.gif in the upper right hand corner. This will validate that the settings are legal for your network.
  8. If you get Validation Passed, click Save and Restart in the menu. If it doesn't validate the change, a message will indicate the reason. It must be corrected before the configuration change can be applied.
  9. This completes the configuration of the Netopia for NAT Default Host.

Go to start
Go to run
Type "cmd" and hit ok or enter
Type ipconfig and hit enter (in the black command window)

find your default gateway.
Go to that address in your browser window.
Sign in to the router.
(Username:password defaults to try)
admin:admin
admin:password
**BLANK**:admin
**BLANK**:password

Once logged in look for wireless security and grab your wep key. I recommend you tape it to the bottom of your router for future.

Windows adds http:// to 192.168.1.1, and I get an error page instead of router pages.

Did you change the IP address of the router? Can you ping the gateway IP?

I'm looking to hookup the DVR with the PC via A cross-over cable

I have 2 DX2000's, In order for you to communicate with your pc, you need a Crossover cable, if you have a laptop or computers, connect the crossover cable to that, set your ip address on your computer to 192.168.2.108, (Note: since you never configured it, this would be the default setting). If you have the manual this is in there.,

Another method, if you don't have a crossover cable is to set the ip on your computer to 192.168.2.110 Subnet, 255.255.255.0. its a little more funky, the crossover would be easier, once you get in, then go to the configuration page and setup up the IPaddess for the DX2000, the Gateway to your Router and the subnet mask, once you do this, then you're able to get to it on your network, by typing in http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8004 .

I got d-link wireless router, how do i put a password on it so no one else can use it?

Access the Web Interface , by inputting the IP address of the router into a web browser , then navigate through to the wireless page , by clicking the links on the page , then when within that page choose the encryption type (WPA2 is the strongest) and then the key (password)

If you cannot find the IP address look in the manual that came with the router or

Click start

Click Run

Type cmd

hit ok

In the black DOS screen that appears type: ipconfig

hit enter

where it says default gateway the numbers preceding that is the IP address

Goodluck.

Wireless connection

You probably need to goto your routers web page and change the name there.

While you are there it is a good idea to setup at least WEP security if you have not done so already.

To get there, usually, while you are connected, you can look at the properties of your connection, and get your default gateway's IP address.

In a web browser, put this IP number of your default gateway into the browser's address bar and click go. It should load your router's administration web page. If it has a password and you dont know what that is then it is probably the default password.

To get the default password for your router, into Google search for example if you has a linksys router, search Google for "linksys default password" this should bring up the default password for a linksys router. usually a combination of "admin/password".

Once logged into the administration web page, the network name is listed under "SSID".
