Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook

Games Crash.. I got problems with applications such as games or anything that uses the video card. If u run one it will work until it crashes with no way to tell when it will crash. Sometimes games crash after 15 mins and sometimes they last hours. I tried reinstalling windows but i still got the same problem. Once in a while after a few crashes, suddenly a blue screen appears for a second and the notebook reboots by itselfs. What could be wrong, VGA drivers? the Card?Is some1 having the same problem as me?

Re: Games Crash..

Make sure it's getting enough air; a lot of laptops have undersized heat sinks on the video hardware and poorly routed airflow. If you get one of those laptop cooling pads with the fans in them that should help, and if you don't mind removing a few panels in the back of the machine you can further improve ventilation. Also, be sure to occasionally blow compressed air into the air openings of the machine to get rid of accumulated dust.

Re: Games Crash..

How old is the laptop? It could be that the gfx card is dieing or has died and the onboard card cannot handle the games. If it is still under warranty take it back to the place of purchase and get them to repair it. If it is outside the warranty period and it is the gfx card, the only thing you can really do is buy a new card that your motherboard will support.

My laptop crashed when i am playing ONLY League of Legends sometimes

Sometimes games will freeze up due to a video card driver needing updated or replaced. Another reason could be that it has a corrupted file and needs re-installed. You can always try running a disk defrag also to see if that helps. Your graphics card might not have what it takes to run it, you could try lowering the settings.

The requirements for games are not 100 percent accurate as it depends on a lot more than just system hardware. Different drivers, versions of codex, as well as different versions of direct x all can affect it. Even just how well the game was coded and or optimized can affect it a lot. If I remember from what I did play of it, they didn't have that well of an optimized game.

One last thing to try is in your league folder there should be a direct x setup application. Try running that to see if that works.

Acer aspire crashes and to reboots when i try to record video game footage

There is a good chance of still getting a blue screen with a OS upgrade. You should try a clean install. Then try testing the RAM. Leave one DIMM at a time and swap to one slot at a time. This may help identify a bad one.

When im playing games such as callofduty on my computer vindictus or heroes of newerth on my Hp Pavilion dv7-3160us it seems to freeze in about 2minutes into the game the screen stays normal but nothing...

Your laptop is under power to run these games. The only solution to this is, either upgrading few of the component, Since this is a laptop, I doubt you can upgrade the video card, and you may need to find a higher performace laptop or a desktop to run the games. Remember game min. recommemation is only for a desktop, and with laptop even with some of the same spec, laptop hardware underperform with desktop hardware always!

Sims 3 crashes

Hi. Well that is obvious if the memory as well as the virtual memory drops below the required level. Your VGA settings (Graphic Adapter) might also making the game crash. It is a good thing to disable AVG temporarily while you play the game. (Please let me know your System's specifications as well. Like RAM size, VGA size, Processor Speed and Hard Drive Capacity - Both free and used capacity. If you have default specs for the Dell I6400 no need to include). Otherwise it will use the memory and virtual memory to scan the activities of the game.
You have to keep some vacant area in your System Partition (In which you have install the Operating System). Virtual memory page file is 1.5 x the size of RAM. But you can increase the size. But you have to have a faster hard drive as well because it will be used more when you increase it. The other option is to upgrade your RAM (installing an additional RAM if the PC supports). Most of the modern games require way too high performance PCs. Most of the time RAM and VGA.
To increase the Virtual Memory:
  1. Right click on My Computer icon and go to Properties.
  2. Click on Advanced tab.
  3. Click on Settings under the category, Performance.
  4. Click on Advanced.
  5. Click on Change under Virtual Memory.
  6. Select a free Partition (Which had more than the size x 1.5 of your RAM)
  7. Select the option System Managed size if you do not wish to do it manually. If you want to configure manually, select the Custom size option and enter the size which I mentioned before in BOTH the boxes.
  8. Then click on SET.
  9. You may be asked to Reboot the machine. Do so if asked to.
  10. Then play he game.
  11. If possible please upgrade your RAM.
Sims 3 System Requirements are as follows:

  1. 2.0 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  2. 1 GB RAM (512 should be enough however)
  3. 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0
  4. The latest version of DirectX 9.0c
  5. Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2
  6. This one is very important: At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games.

  1. 2.4 GHz P4 processor or equivalent
  2. 1.5 GB RAM
  3. 128 MB Video Card with support for Pixel Shader 2.0 (not enough)
  4. Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1
  5. At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
  6. For computers using built-in graphics chipsets under Windows, the game requires at least:
  • Intel Integrated Chipset, GMA 3-Series or above
  • 2.6 GHz Pentium D CPU, or 1.8 GHz Core 2 Duo, or equivalent
  • 0.5 GB additional RAM

  1. Mac OS X 10.5.7 Leopard or higher
  2. Intel Core Duo Processor
  3. 2 GB RAM
  4. ATI X1600 or Nvidia 7300 GT with 128 MB of Video RAM, or Intel Integrated GMA X3100.
  5. At least 6.1 GB of hard drive space with at least 1 GB of additional space for custom content and saved games
  • This game will not run on PowerPC (G3/G4/G5) based Mac systems, or the GMA 950 class of integrated video cards.
Windows Supported Video Cards NVIDIA GeForce series FX 5900, FX 5950 6200, 6500, 6600, 6800 7200, 7300, 7600, 7800, 7900, 7950 8400, 8500, 8600, 8800 9300, 9400, 9500, 9600, 9800 G100, GT 120, GT 130, GTS 150 GTS 250, GTX 260, GTX 280, GTX 285, GTX 295 ATI Radeon™ series 9500, 9600, 9800 X300, X600, X700, X800, X850 X1300, X1600, X1800, X1900, X1950 2400, 2600, 2900 3450, 3650, 3850, 3870 4850, 4870
Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA 3-Series, GMA 4-Series
Laptop versions of these chipsets may work, but may run comparatively slower. Standalone cards that are installed in vanilla PCI slots (not PCIe or PCIx or AGP), such as some GeForce FX variants, will perform poorly.
Integrated chipsets such as the ATI Xpress and the NVIDIA TurboCache variants may default to settings that are higher than what would be optimal for them. Graphics settings can be lowered to improve performance.
The NVIDIA GeForce FX series is unsupported under Vista. MAC OS X Supported Video Cards NVIDIA GeForce series 7300, 7600 8600, 8800 9400M, 9600M GT GT 120, GT 130 ATI Radeon™ series X1600, X1900 2400, 2600 3870 4850, 4870 Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) GMA 3-Series.
So make sure to meet at least the minimum requirements.
Enjoy Gaming.

C language is not running in full screen mode

Windows Vista takes away a lot of support and convenience for the sheer attractive of flashy user interface. One major feature is the ability of open full screen window for command prompt shell in Windows Vista. When you attempt open or run DOS .com applications, .bat batch scripts or games that relies on command prompt, and including cmd.exe itself, you will encounter the following error message:
This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose “Close” to terminate the application.
The lack of support for full screen DOS command prompt in Windows Vista is a big annoyance especially for those who still playing games for DOS and Windows 3.1/9x era, use legacy software such as WPDOS or programmers who frequently switch to command prompt to use DOS based programming language such as PASCAL.
There is no simple solution to this no support for full screen window in Windows Vista. In almost all possible workarounds, you are almost guaranteed that your Vista will be broken in some way, at least on the part on Windows Aero. You will lose the nice Aero Glass interface if you attempt any of these trick, plus other unknown side effects.
Workaround to Run or Open Full Screen Window Mode
Workaround 1: Use XDDM driver instead of WDDM driver for video graphics adapter
In another word, install the Windows XP video card driver for use in Vista. If the video graphics card hardware supports Windows XP driver, you can download the Windows XP driver for your video hardware and install it under Vista. However, be warned that using XP driver on display adapter may crash your Vista system randomly, so save your works before proceeding and use with care.
Note: This solution has been recommended by Microsoft in KB926657.
To install a Windows XP video driver under Vista, just follow the procedure listed in the guide below. The steps should work for both NVIDIA and ATI video graphics accelerator card.
Download the Windows XP driver installer for your graphics card from NVIDIA or ATI. Run the installation setup program just downloaded. Confirm any User Account Control permission warning when prompted. The installer will first extract and unpack the files required by installation to proceed to a folder/directory. Note down the path to the folder. For ATI, the folder for these installation files usually located in a directory with a name that resembles C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-5_xp_dd_46743\Driver or C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-5_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_46743\Driver, with the only different been the number to indicate the version and build number of the driver
