Hi, Normal 0 UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it. If there is no rear panel, remove the front lower half and you will see the fuse there on the blower housing. Most models have a sensor on the side of the burner for the ignition too. The fust is the most common problem.
However, if the ignitor glows, you will need to change the coils on top the gas valve.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Since it is gas, you need to find out if the ignitor is coming on to ignite the gas (if you have gas getting to the burners). If you have gas, but the ignitor is not coming on, then you have to determine if the electronic contol is sending a signal for the ignitor to ignite. The most likely cause is the ignitor

HI. This will essentially be an issue that concerns the gas valve coils. With that said, I will post below a complete burner assembly procedure that will help you isolate the culprit. I'm sure that the coils will fail the test, but to be safe, follow the procedure to confirm.

Gas valve/Burner testing procedure:

On the gas valve are one or two coils (solenoids) used to open and close the valve to control the flow of gas. If a coil fails, gas will not flow and the dryer will have no heat.

The easiest way to diagnose a problem in the burner assembly is to observe the burner operation. Remove the small access panel at the bottom, front of the dryer, select a high temperature setting and start the appliance. Watch the burner assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should begin to glow. Next you should hear the click of the gas valve coil and a flame should ignite. The flame should be mostly blue and it should remain on for a minute or more.

If the ignitor glows for several seconds (up to 15 seconds) and then goes out, the problem is probably the coils (solenoids). If the ignitor glows and stays on, then the problem is usually the flame sensor. If it ignites and then quickly goes out, it is most likely a problem with inadequate air flow.Test the coil for resistance using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X10. Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should change from a reading of infinity to roughly 1300 ohms (+/- 150 ohms) when the probes touch the terminals. If the reading is infinity or substantially different from 1300 ohms, the solenoid should be replaced.

Click Here to access a exploded diagram of the burner assembly. The affected coils will be labeled number 15 and 10. The actual coil and valve assembly will be labeled number 11 and the burner will be labeled number 9

Dryer drum rotates but does not dry. No heat.

The problem is your dryer coils are failing. They tend to fail as they heat up. The parts are inexpensive and easy to test and replace. There is a video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html this will walk you thru the troubleshooting of these components. It may be a different model but the troubleshooting will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations. Not all models are available. If you need help disassembling your machine there are videos of this also for most styles.

Whirlpool lg9521xt gas dryer- no heat or flame. I replaced thermal fuse and coil kit, but didn't solve problem. What's next ? The igniter ?

Remove the bottom panel and start dryer . If you see the red glow , then ignitor is ok . Disconnect the plug (2 or 3 wires ) going to the burner and check for 120 volts . If no red glow , replace the ignitor pt # 279311 . If not 120 volts , then , normally , thermal fuse is bad (white piece with 2 small terminals on blower box ) is bad .

Dryer doesnt blow hot air.

I find that quite often the ignitor is out of alignment or the glass window is covered with lint.
a gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes.
There are two common styles of ignitors, glow ignitors and spark ignitors. The ignitor ignites the gas either by heating up and glowing, or by sparking. If the ignitor fails, the dryer will not heat.

The easiest way to check the ignitor is to observe it. Remove the small access panel in front, select a high temperature setting and start the dryer. Watch the burner assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should begin to glow or spark. If you see it glow or spark, then the ignitor is working.

Dryer does not heat up

First, I would check that the ignitor is functioning properly. It should glow orange if it is heating up properly. If it is not heating up, the ignitor is defective. The next thing to check is the gas valve coils. These are solenoids that are located right above the gas valves, that, when energized, open the gas valves. If these malfunction, the gas valves do not open and the burner cannot ignite. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.

Whirlpool dryer LGR7646EQ3. Burner lights before pushing start.

The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse. If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt. But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the ignitor and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot ignitor and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly.

Gas dryer is not heating up

Could be a bad set of burner coils. Does the glow come on for a bit then goes out. And after a bit does same?
Probably bad coils. If you were able to change ignitor, you can do the coils. Unplug first! The coils are the 2 black cylinder shaped devices on burner. They are held on with a bracket that has 2 phillips screws. You can probably take them to your parts house and they can ohm them out for you. Make sure to write down their position before removing them.
