WHAT IS ERROR CODE H5 FOR A FRIGIDAIRE HEAT/COOL WINDOW UNIT?

Thank you for your inquiry, Angela Babin!

From my understanding your Frigidaire air conditioner is displaying an error code "H5". Normally, the error code "H5" stands for heater thermistor error. I would recommend performing a reset on your air conditioner by unplugging it for ten minutes. If that does not help correct the error code it could be a possible problem with your thermistor or control board. I hope this is helpfully. -Matt

Frigidaire fas257q2a2

Hello Friend, I am happy to assist you!

I understand your Frigidaire air conditioner (FAS257Q2A2) is displaying error code A5; however, it appears the correct error code is AS. Error code AS typically indicates that your air conditioner is experiencing an issue with the ambient thermistor. I would strong suggest contacting a professional to check the wiring between the main control board and thermistor. A certified technician would generally replace the faulty part after proper diagnosis. Best regards! - Z

Cutting of thermistor wire by rat

If you have enough loose end on the wire you can make a splice and solder the point. Insulated it well with electrical tape. The alternate is to replace the thermistor which and more than likely be ordered by model number and serial number of your unit.

Air conditioner

Remote control units have diagnostic program in the
control, after 3 to 5 minutes of operating if the diagnostic
tools detect abnormal operation, then its shutdown the unit
to protect from damage. Thermistor sensor is one of the
parts that detect the operation of the unit. Out of range
or defective thermistor can shut the operation of the unit.
-
If your indoor and outdoor is clean start the unit in cool mode and monitor the outdoor pipes. If your suction pipe is icing or dry then your unit is under charge, but if your suction is cold and sweating then the system is ok and sure that the thermistor sensor is defective.
- Out of range thermistor sensor in both return air and freeze up sensor can cause the tripping “off “ the unit. The resistance of both thermistor is 8 to 10k ohms, so can test by using ohm meter
