Fridge Not Getting Cold

I have a Frigedaire FRT21P5A that is about 7 years old and was mostly used as a 2nd fridge. Last week it just stopped getting cold. The fan runs, the lights are on, but it just won't blow cold air.

Can you tell me what part needs replacing and if my reasonably handy husband can replace the part?

Thanks!

The only thing i can thing of is the start switch it may be burned out.It is located on the compressor. If your compressors running and there is no cold air in freezer part and fridge you may have a sealed system leak.Open the rear bottom panel while the fan is running and feel the compressor if it is hot and it is running you may need a repair person to come look at it.also forgot to say is if you have frost bult up in rear freezer panel that would indicate it is froze up and will need a manual defrost .After done that the defrost timer may need replaceing it is locatedaround the control and light area.hope i fixya :)

Most times some times if you unplug and plug back in elect the turmostate will fail. might need replacing if not unpluged and then pluged back in possible low refrigerant hope this helps

Freezer not getting cold enough.

That is normal since the cold control is on the refrigerator side and is satisfied. It needs to be in a heated environment and not in an unheated garage.

Frigidaire freezer cold, refrig in 50's.

Because the model FRT21P5A has a manual adjusting vent I believe your problem is either the defrost heater and defrost thermostat and or the cold control (thermostst) is not working correctly. When temperatures rise in the refrigerator side first that is a sign that the air flow from the freezer is restricted. You will need to unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear panel in back of freezer to confirm. If Iced over use a hair dryer to defrost and disconnect one wire on the defrost heater. Check the defrost heater with an ohm meter. You should get a reading. If defective and no reading you need to replace the defrost heater and defrost thermostat. Let me know what you find, Thanks Sea Breeze

My refridge and freezer would stop working

there is a saftey overload switch on the compressor when the compressor is over heating it cuts out. when the fridge is turned off it resets the switch. So now the compressor has burned out totally. you more and likely need a new compressor
