Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
Hello. I have a Kenmore Elite washer model #110.23032102. Lately, it does not want to spin/drain the water. I can get it to spin sometimes by playing with the control dial and moving it to the next spin cycle, but sometimes it won't drain all the water. Any ideas?
Might help found my problem was in the motor thought it was in the controls but it came back to motor problems . changed control dial no luck .would think if its a fix yourself try control first. its cheeper than the compressor hope this helps

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
See the section for the basket and tub assembly's
I'd pull the cabinet in order to get to the hoses going to and from the pump first.
See the following:
I'd check the hoses for blockage, check the shaft from the motor to the pump and check inside the pump to make sure the inlet and outlet aren't blocked.

OL error means the Motor Controller has sensed an Overload.
The oL code means the motor control board is struggling to power the motor up. If it recurs after removing some clothes - usually this means a new motor control.... or worse - a new bearing.
If it were a problem with the tub floating up, the unit would spin instead of nutate.
Bearing failure in this machine is very common.
I suspect the drive shaft and bearing are the problem. The bearing and shaft are part of the outer tub.
The new outer tub with bearing W10128830 cost approximately $197 dollars.
If you can get access to the shaft it may be an Emory cloth will help smooth things down so that you no longer get the OL code.
This is an ambitious do-it-yourself project... as most appliance repairmen don't understand how this machine operates.
