1 Answer

Fellowes C-420c jammed can only find 6 screws

I need to take the top off this shredder but guess there is another screw somewhere that I cannot see does anyone know where it is on this model? I have taken out the 3 at the back and the 3 at the front underneath the lip.

If your shredder is like the one illustrated, you can remove the bin and turn it upside down to unjam it and clean it.

SOURCE: Fellowes PS-70 Shredder jam

I used needle-nose pliers and regular pliers to pull out all of the jammed paper -- it took an hour but I finally got it. I never did find a release mechanism even after I took the top apart. Thanks anyway!

SOURCE: How to disassemble Fellowes P70CM Shredder

Agreed, there is a seventh screw under the label, as wstrooper suggests. Press along the label and you'll find the tell-tale indentation!
Having taken it apart (a further 4 screws to remove the nylon housing from the base, and another seven to remove the nylon covering for the gears), it has revealas a stripped gear (the one nearest the motor), caused by too many sheets of paper being fed in.
This problem seems to repeat amongst several P70CM owners. Shame the motor doesn't have a cut-out if it hits too great a resistance, rather than strip the gear of its teeth.

SOURCE: OD700C Fellowes Shredder blades don't turn

There is a screw hidden under one of the stick on labels. Remove that and the top comes just fine. I got it torn apart, completely cleaned of debris but the rollers still don't turn. I noticed an electrical arc when the switch is pressed so the unit is toast.

Plastic got in shredder won't work, would like instruchions to take it apart to fix

Take out the paper bin. Look for and remove any screws holding the top part of the shredder to the base. Take the top off, turn it upside-down and you might be able to remove the jam. To take the top apart, remove all of the screws that are under or near the edge. Look out, it gets very messy when you take it apart!

Remove the six obvious screw around the perimeter of the underside, plus one more screw in the center that's hidden under a label. Then cover will just lift off.

Reverse works fine, but I cannot get it to accept new paper to shred

Your Fellowes p600c-2 shredderappears to have the same problem I had, it would run in reverse but would not shred new paper. I removed the 6 screws that are visible on the top assembly, but could not get the top assembly to come apart. There is a seventh screw hidden under one of the adhesive labels. I removed that screw and was able to disassemble the shredder. The plastic trigger mechanism that starts the shredder when paper is put in was stuck. I freed the trigger mechanism and reassembled the shredder. Now it works fine.

Jammed shredder

First UNPLUG THE MACHINE.
Unscrew four (4) screws, two in front underneath top cover and two in back of top cover. BE careful not to disconnect any wires.
Rotate motor gear or belt in reverse to remove jam. Do not put oil on paper because it expands the paper thickness and only makes it worse.

For user stevehello check under stickers or any plugs for any hidden screws some shredders are also put together with tabs that need to be pried apart but check for hidden screws first.
