Stacy,

Sounds to me like there is bad solder somewhere on the filament supply circuit. Do you know what a cold solder joint looks like? It is a solder joint that is not making a good mechanical or electrical connection. When you lose that connection the filament inside the tube slowly stops heating the electron guns and the picture will fade away. When the connection comes back the video will come back.

Might be worth it to take the back off and check out the little board that is connected to the end of the tube. The problem is either there or on the power supply.

Shouldn't be a problem for a repair tech. I would not spend very much money though.

I bought a studio standard by fisher tape deck and it makes a buzzing sound and it wont play tapes what do i do

Take it back, it's broken!

Buzzing can be a fault on leads connected to it, but 'won't play tapes is terminal unless you ant to spend money on repair. Tapes are an antique of the past superseded by CD, and now MP3 digital.

Dark screen/picture.

This 30" flat screen TV set may have a problem in the high voltage circuit of the TV set. You may be able to adjust this by taking off the back of the TV set. Look for the block where the large red wire runs up to the top of the picture tube. On this block will be two controls. one will say screen and one will say focus. Try and slowly turn the control that says screen or S on it clockwise and see if you can make the picture brighter. Turn up the control till you just start to see faint lines in the picture, then back the control down till the lines go away. If the picture does not come up when you turn this up, and all you get is a blank screen, you will need to have this set repaired by a qualified repair person. Good Luck

Sony TV - No picture

If the picture slowly fades on, the you may have a weak picture tube or a loose solder connection in the filiament circuit. If the picture flashes on then you may have a problem with the High Voltage/Horizontal circuit. This type of problem could be caused by a loose solder connection on the horizontal driver transformer. There are several other problems that could cause this type of problem. Stargazer

Picture faded to black, came back, faded again and had stayed black.

It seems your set has a loose conection in the high voltage circuits,in fact by now it should have many loose conections in different areas like the power supply and the horizontal deflection circuits,if you are familiar with tv service you can use the information as the first step to take, some of the loose conections are hard to see even for the trained technician but the one giving you this problem should not be hard to see,if you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and call for assistance from a servicer a least for an estimate.
