The only thing that i can think of is that it is not hot enough. try turning up the heat. Orange fire just means that it is not as hot as the blue fire.

Why does my burners not ignite into a blue flame

The color of the flame can be affected by a few different things. here are three of them: 1. If there is a food substance contacting the burner where the flame comes out, this will give the flame an orange tint. 2. If the propane is being burned at a very high rate, the flame can become invisible in daylight-like conditions. 3. If the propane is being burned at a very low rate it can also have an orange tint. Hope this is clarifying.

The flames from the front left burner is 1/3 orange and 2/3 blue; whereas the flames from the other burners are all blue. There is a strong odour from the front left burner when we turn it on and also the...

The flames should be all blue - except when you first turn it on, where the flame begins, & only when you turn it on. Orange flames mean incomplete combustion is happening. Carbon monoxide is being released. Orange flames can also mean your getting low on gas. Clean it & try moving the disk around. An uneven disc means some flames will be higher & burn your pots. The flames are wrapping around your pots if they're burning on the sides. Keep flames under the pot. Regardless of the being clean, the odor means you need to check your gas level. Once filled back, the odor should be gone if that's the only problem. That is placed in the gas as a safety feature. Don't try to fix this problem yourself if the "easy" solutions don't work. It could be very dangerous. Invest in a carbon monoxide detector especially when you have anything gas.

Kenmore Water heater, Model # 153.339462, Pilot lights, burner burns for approx. 10 - 15 minutes then both go out. after which it is more difficult to light the pilot. I need ideas please

Clean combustion parts, clean air intake, get more air to water heater and see if problem continues.
Look at color of burner flame and pilot flame: if flame has yellow-and-orange instead of clear blue flame, then combustion parts need cleaning.

Pilot and burner problems can be caused by bad thermocouple, thermocouple not sitting in flame, weak pilot flame due to dirty tube or low gas pressure, air in gas line, no draft up vent, backdraft coming down vent, dirty combustion parts, clogged air intake, insufficient air, insufficient air quality, hot attic, bad gas control valve, etc.

Bob, your wife is partially correct. However, both burners should have blue flames with orange tips. Cleaning the burners and the their venturi valves, should solve the problem. When I say cleaning them, I mean removing and cleaning them.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

Can a gas heater after years of good use - start emitting carbon dioxide? What about black ashes or soot?

yes yes yes. if you are having black soot build up in the burner compartment you have a problem.the air/fuel mixture has changed. you need to stop using and get the heat exchanger cleaned. this can be done with a long bottle brush coat hanger or such. remove the burners and away you go clean clean clean what a mess.anyway once cleaned reassamble burners and check all gas fittings for leakage with soapy water. after main burner comes on make sure the flames are straight up and not floating around and a nice blue in color some orange is ok but no yellow. normaly a plugged heat exchanger does not mean a bad heat exchanger. watch the flame before the fan comes on and after.the flame should not change. if it start to waver you may have a nother problem and you should not use and call a heating company

I have an orange flame on the burner instead of blue

The difference between an orange flame and blue flame is the amount of air in the combustion process. SO if the flame is orange it is being starved of oxygen. The gas burns dirty and soot is generated.

Sometimes with an older heater the exhaust venturie becomes plugged and carbon monoxide is released into your home- in this case your heater would make a woof or poping sound when starting up or shutting off. This is a dangerous unsafe situation and professional help is needed.

What you can do is try to make adjustment yourself, if your confident the other situation does not exist. Your water heater should have a little deflector shield on the gas line between valve and burner (typically immediatly after the orfice). Sometimes these will have to be slide front or backwards or twisted. The adjustment of deflector shield must be opened more to make the blue hotter flame to mak eyour heater operate at peak efficiency.

Good Luck

It is normal, it will disappear after a little while, when you bang on the burners, particle fell off form inside of the burners and it caused the orange flame. Yellow flame means not enough air or burner is internal clogged.
