Samsung upgrade - Samsung GT S3850 Corby II

An upgrade and an update are two different things. If your device has the latest version of software/ applications, it will show that there are no latest updates available. A firmware upgrade is posted by Samsung or you do a custom upgrade. check custom upgrades for further clarification.

Because there is no upgrade for your model TV. It may be too old or too new. It may be a model made for a company like Walmart that asked for no upgradability to save money.

Option 1. OTA(over the air) without cable
Go to Settings > (More) > About device > Software update > update
Before upgrade by OTA,
-Recommend using a proper Wi-Fi network to avoid abnormal carrier data fee.
-Make sure to charge the battery (more than 50% capacity) and to have the enough device memory. (at least 1GB )
-Do not remove the battery during upgrade.
-Do not use the rooted device.
Option 2. Computer with a cable
Install the 'Kies' and run it after connecting your phone. Simply follow the instructions shown in the 'Kies' software upgrade menu.

Option 3. Visiting the shops
Samsung Experience Shops(SES) are supporting the Smart Service* with software upgrade. Ask software upgrade service to Samsung experience Consultant at Samsung Experience Shop; you can enjoy the Samsung device, its accessories and contents freely during the upgrade time.
* Smart Service may not be available in some shops under space condition.

You need a newer phone.

Step I: Download the latest version of Samsung Kies from official site of Samsung Kies. The latest version of Kies is: Kies_2.0.0.11044.

Step II: Open Samsung Kies and connect your Samsung Wave with PC (Wait for driver installation, if you have attached your phone for the first time with your pc)

As soon as Kies will detect your phone it will offer a prompt of new firmware update available, see the screenshot below

Click on UPDATE button

Step III: Now you will face a window of 'Agree to the Terms and Conditions." You can choose the option of save and don't save the information. This option is that, Samsung will store your information of IP and hardware specifications on their servers for 2 years. It is totally dependent on you, which you want to choose.

Step IV: It is strongly recommended not to disconnect your phone from PC until the upgrading process is complete. So take care of it.

Within few minutes (depends upon the speed of your internet connection). Upgrading process will move on and will complete successfully.


Upgrade in Progress

Note: Don't use any options on your phone, while the upgrading process is taking place, your phone will be restarted. DON'T PANIC!

Your phone will come to working state automatically and your Samsung Wave is successfully upgraded to Bada 1.2

Print configuration report "Menu>Reports>Configuration/System Data"
Check the firmware version. 1.07 or lower is likely to have this problem
Upgrading the firmware is quite simple.
Get the update from samsung website Samsung.com>Support>Search Box "SF-650">on product support page find tab "firmware" and download upgrade file.
If you feel competent to do the upgrade (read the instructions in the txt file twice) do it.

Be aware that the upgrade will likely want to do a memory clear once it is complete so you will loose address book etc. Also do not power off unit during upgrade or you will damage the firmware and possibly make the unit unusable.
