First the simple solution. Make sure your needle is inserted flat side to the back and all the way up.
The only other thing I can think of is that your hook is out of time and this will take a technician to re-time it. You may need to take it in for a servicing.

SOURCE: How is presser foot adjusted ?

If your stitches are tiny more than likely the feeddogs are not working correctly. More often than not its because the pivot points for the feeddog mechanism inside are gummed up,dirty and oily and they need to be cleaned. Your machine is in need of service. Does not really have anything to do with presser foot pressure especially if you have tried adjusting that to no availe.
It needs servicing.

You may need to increase the foot pressure to cope with the heavy denim material. Look carefully at the material as the machine tries to stitch ... if the foot is not keeping the material firmly on the stitch plate, it might be riding up on the needle (denim tends to be rather 'grippy') which will prevent the thread loop being formed correctly below the stitch-plate and therefore not getting picked-up by the CB hook. Changing to a bigger diameter needle might actually make the situation worse in this case ... go back to an 80 and try again.

What is presser foot 37 for

The Bernina foot 37 is called the 'Patchwork Foot'. It is very useful in piecing quilt tops as the foot features an accurate 1/4" and 1/8" on both sides of the needle. It also has a 1/4" guide in front and behind the needle to allow accurate 1/4" stops and starts from the end of the pieces being stitched together.

I turned off my machine to change the pressure foot on my Bernina Virtuosa 160. The pressure foot number does not change on the display. Is there something I need to do to change the number?

The machine Knows the foot number buy the small glass part of the foot just on the upper right side of the foot. Check to see if that is not damaged and clean. Also check the sensor on the machine just above the foot for not damage and clean. If that is good make sure your foot is paralel with the stitch plate. Do this buy putting a single hole foot on your machine and make sure the needle is right in the center. If this does not work you will need to take it in. May be a bad sensor or unpulged but that is rare.
Also not all bernina feed have this foot sensor, if this is the case it will not read it
hope this helps

Machine not stitching

In my town, when you buy a new Bernina, you get a free series of classes to learn how to use it. Call your store and see if they have a "Get to know your Bernina" class for your machine.

Programmed stitches on the 160

As a Bernina tech I can tell you to try adjusting the stitch balance with the small knob on the side + or -. Just in little increments until they start to look right. Maybe this has gotten turned too far off. If this doesn't help (50/50), worst case scenario most likely the small gear has been jarred loose or has skipped a tooth to the stepping motor which means a tech will have to reset this and balance it from the inside. There are also steps to take in the service program but again this would be a job for a tech. I suggest you get the whole clean, oil and adjust as this would be included in that.
