Sounds like a fault with the card, but you should start by cleaning the fan first. If the problem continues and your card is under warranty then send it away to get fixed. If not under warranty, then I would look at replacing the card altogether. The amount of time you will spend going back and forth trying to find the cause may not be worth it.

I would try getting the latest video card drivers first, if it is a Nvida card & it has recently updated itself, I would roll back the drivers, there has been a problem with the last update & my computer didn't like the upgrade & blue screened a lot, but was fine after I rolled them back in safe mode, if the problem if not repairable via software then go to a Laptop specialist, for what its worth I think its a software issue as you say its only when playing games, but im not an expert just well informed.
the best you can do is to have the fan cleaned. Sometimes dust around the fan, doesnt make it blow effectively. But if this doesnt help, then you must have the fan replaced.
The fan may be blowing, but not blow effectively because the fan propeller maybe weak.
To cut the long story short, have it replaced and that should solve the problem.
well sometimes the thermostat in the ps3 could be faulty...or ur ps3 may just not need the fan on all times...if ur system works fine and after a while ur fan turns on , then ur fine...if it never turns on then you need it looked at...either a electronics technician or sony itself( only if u have a warranty though). either way if the system is working fine and the fan just doesnt come on most of the time, this could be a case of your ps3 just operating very well...the fan is only necessary if the temperature gets high enough to do any damage to the internals ..therefore i believe u may either have no problem at all...or a new fan installed by a technician may be ur issue...hope it helps.
Hi samohtpfeffe, i've been having the exact same problem. reason why your video card crashes because its over heating, fan not spinning ? Did you try to remove old video driver and install latest driver ?
What Game are you playing ,at the moment? Because this video card is about over 4 years old, really can't handle newest games properly.
While your computer is on, see if the fan attached to your video card is working. If it does, check the temperature inside your cpu. Overheating is one of the reason for logging out on window during online games. If possible additional cooler fan must be install inside the cpu. If that did not help suggest you replace your video card.
bet you are playing on a slim, turn of the umd cache in system settings then the problem stops perhaps the game (driver 76) doesnt support the umd cache system using the extra ram in the psp slim
well it worked for me anyway
