Ice dispenser jamming

The ice dispenser keeps getting jammed by ice inside the dispenser before it drops down into the door. I have to pull out the ice tray and turn the spiral feeder coil backwards to clear the jam or physically remove the ice. IS there anything that can be done to prevent the ice from jamming.

I have a GE side by side model GSS201EPHWWW. The icemaker won't turn off. It seems like the paddle is too high for the ice in the tub to push it to turn it off.

Have you noticed a smaller sized ice cube? If so, time your water release into your ice maker and see if it is enough time to fill the tray completely (6-9 seconds?). The smaller sized cubes may be jamming-up the ice in the revolving dispenser at the end of the auger.

After troubleshooting my ice dispenser problem more, I believe the problem is with the rotating plastic dispenser at the end of the auger. The circular plastic dispenser is slipping when ice packs up and resistance is encountered, thereby causing an intermittent failure to dispense ice. The auger shaft rotates properly.

I have ordered a new auger/dispenser assembly and feel confident that this will correct the problem.

There is a revised bucket that's made to prevent that.
If your refrig has a steel liner order WR17X11308
If it has a plastic liner order WR17X11315

You have ice stuck inside where it has dispensed but it apparently did not drop all the way down to the container. Only thing you can do is shake it until everything drops, allowing the bin to be removed.

My icemaker will not dispense ice. The tray is full, but won't rotate to drop cubes.

Ice sitting for a long time in the tray sometimes freezes the mechanism. Try unloading the tray of ice. Make sure nothing is jamming the parts that dispense the ice. Wait for new ice to be made and see if it works.

How do i access the ice dispencer door in the door? The door is stuck open and freezes up the dispencer.

1. Disconnect the unit from the electrical
supply and wait for 3 to 4 hrs to get ice melted.
2. Pull out and unclip the drip tray on the ice
and water dispenser compartment.
3. Remove the screws from the ice and water
dispenser compartment front panel and
turn it over. The selector switch pack and
dispenser switches are now accessible for
testing.

Ge, tfx26kpda ww, ice maker only dispences crushed ice

At least yours is making ice. Mine wount even make ice. While toubleshooting my prob, I notice a metal rod on the bottom of the ice tray. This rod opens and shuts a plastic "trap door" in the tray. The position of that door determines whether the ice is crushed or whole. If the trap door is open the ice falls through the dispenser freely. If the door this closed the ice is force thorugh metal teeth where it is crushed then dispensed. Open the freezer door and take the ice tray out. You should see a hole at the back of the freezer that the metal rod goes through. In that hole there is a plastic square that moves up and down. If the set your dispenser to crushed ice, leave the door open, push in the door switch at the bottom, and press the dispenser. The plastic square does nothing while the motor is turning. That allows the door to stay closed and forces the ice through the metal teeth. If you set the dispenser to whole ice and do the same thing the plastic square is suppose to lift up forcing the door open and letting the whole ice drop freely. The plastic square probably does nothing even if you set it to whole ice. That mean the trap door never opens focing the ice to always get crushed.

Unfortunately, I have no solution because mine works and I had no need to investigate further. I hopes this helps you figure out the problem though

Good Luck.
