Keeps freezing My Gateway 8510GX keeps freezing. It stays on for about 1-5 minutes then it freezes. I can't CTL ALT DEL or anything. I have no choice but to force power off. About a week before this happened I was getting a message that my USB Hub port was malfunctioning and I had to reset it. I got this message even though there was nothing plugged into the USB.

Delete key . Does it work?

Usually the "delete" on macs key does the same as the "backspace" on Windows/pc's, which erases typing going backward. The "del" or Delete key on non-mac computers usually means it erases things forward. Also the classic "ctl + Alt + del" usually stops processing the current application or opens a window to control which programs are running/freezing.

Dell Inspiron 1524 freezes

Yuo could try running a linux livecd from boot, If that goes well and doesnt freeze it could be that software is killing your machine. if so reinstall windows and install one piece of software at a time until then test the installation to see if it kills the pc. When you find the offending software. uninstall it and never use it again.

Laptop will not start,

looks as though your hard drive is u/s Try and see if it is visible in the bios pages, if not replace it. Bios being, when you switch on you press f2, or ctl-alt.del or just del key. This puts you into the BIOS which tells the computer what it can and cannot do. The 1st page should have your hard drive listed, if not then replace it.

Why does my curor freeze up?

First I would replace the batteries. I had the same problem a couple of years ago. The solution for me was getting rid of McAfee AV. To check if it is your problem, use CTL-ALT DEL to turn McAfee off and see if that gets rid of your mouse freeze ups.

My gateway mx6920 keeps freezing if I let it sit for more then 15-20 minutes. If I start it in safe mode it does not do it. does anyone have any ideas?

does your screen saver go in after 15-20 minutes ? because if so then you might try disable it and check if it freezes. does it also freeze when you are using it or when its idle ?

Gateway 460 freezes or will not come on.

It's probably overheating that's why when you first turn it on it works fine up until a certain point. Does it feel hot on the bottom? Are the fans spinning?

Sounds like motherboard problems, but not 100% pointing to that. If you have the knowledge to do so - run a linux boot cd (can be found on a lot of PC magazine DVDs) and see if it crashes with that as well.

Other things to check are the heat your laptop is outputting, check for any burning smells from where the airflow comes out of the laptop, check that your power cable for the laptop is not faulty.

This is a pretty indefined problem as there are many factors that could cause this. Hope I helped.
