SOURCE: UHF Busy and cannot recieve transmissions

It is possibly your PL (private line, interference eliminator code, tone code) has been changed or turned on. Check your programming to see that your radios are identical. If you have further questions please let us know the name/model of the radio, so we can be of more help.

Can I reprogram my tk-2400 with my PC?

No. It is programmed from the Factory on a chip. Preprogrammed. No software will change it, no hacks. Many Motorola radios like that too. It is two watts, Vhf of Uhf, you did not say. If your existing frequencies are Business Band and in the same frequency band (Vhf or Uhf) you can get it to match those.

How do I factory reset a oricome 200rx uhf

Factory reset
If the radio's display locks up or stops functioning properly, you might need to reset your UHF radio. Caution: this procedure clears all the information you have stored in your UHF radio.
Before you reset your UHF radio, try turning it off and on again. If your UHF radio is still not functioning correctly you may need to reset the UHF radio! While holding the F/DPX button, turn the UHF radio on. INITI AL will be displayed for 1 to 2 seconds, the radio will then return to its original display.

What does narrow band mean?

From the FCC website:
" Narrowbanding is an effort to ensure more efficient use of the VHF and UHF spectrum by requiring all VHF and UHF Public Safety and Industrial/Business land mobile radio (LMR) systems to migrate to at least 12.5 kHz efficiency technology by January 1, 2013.

More specifically, all existing Part 90 radio systems operating in the 150-174 MHz and 421-512 MHz bands have until January 1, 2013 to convert those systems either to a maximum bandwidth of 12.5 kHz or to a technology that provides at least one voice path per 12.5 kHz of bandwidth or equivalent efficiency."

Which is better, vhf or uhf

In many business settings you can use either VHF or UHF with success.
VHF: Especially good for people who work somewhat line-of-sight or outdoors. VHF gets around rocks, dirt, hills and trees well and can also be used in many indoor situations.
UHF: While VHF and UHF will both operate line-of-sight up to 2 miles, UHF (450mAH range) gets in and around metal better and even has a better metal punching capability. It also works well in and around concrete structures.

Mt mag one bpr40 uhf 450/470 will receive but will not transmit. green light is on all the time

It probably has "busy channel inhibit" turned on in the menus, and the squelch is open, thus making it think there is a signal on the channel you're trying to use.

Radio will not transmitt

In the software, there is a transmit inhibit feature. Also, if you try to program some frequencies outside what the radio is allowed to do, they will receive only. This is a Ham radio, not a business band radio. You cannot legally program business frequencies on it from 01/01/2013. It is not US FCC type accepted.

Have several Motorola Talkabouts mod. T4800, T5920. Can these radios meet the 2013 narrow band requirement?

  • The question is are they tunable to 12.5 kHz from their current state of 25kHz and the answer is yes. The FCC wants to be able to squeeze more out of the band. Most all VHF/UHF Talk Around radios made after 1997 have both capabilities, including the two models you listed. You have to take them to a tech to have them switched over/tuned. If you use these for a business radio make sure to check with the FCC to see if you need to change your business license to a 12.5 kHz business license.

Regards, Tony

How do I Reset my T5000 2 way radio to factory default

The T5000 Talkabout radio default settings are not the same as the CP100 and CLS. The CLS and the CP100 UHF are capable of being programmed to match one another on several frequencies, however, the TalkAbout T5000 is not capable of any of them.

The Talkabout radios, as a general rule, are limited to FRS and GMRS frequencies. The CP100 and CLS are from the business and light consumer divisions. They will do most of the common 56 UHF business frequencies.

If you would like to look at the frequency charts yourself, here are some links.
