Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

First Attempt to fix didn't work

posted by AtticusDS on Oct 18, 2007 Report abuse

DS Lite is only 2 months old and today it stopped working.  Green power light only stays on for a second when turned on - and only when it is plugged in. When you plug it in, the red charging light stays on for a second then goes out. When it is NOT plugged in, no lights come on, even when you turn it on.  It was not dropped or damaged. It worked last night but this morning it does not. Thanks, Janet

DS won't turn on

Hi Atticus,

I have seen this happen when someone plugs the wrong charging cord up to the DS lite, Is there any chance some one did this to your DS lite.It sounds also as if the battery is not making proper connection.

  1. REmove the battery from the compartment
  2. inspect the connector on the battery and where the battery connects to the DSlite.
  3. Wipe thee connections off some way. I suggest some contact cleaner for bith the battery and Battery compartment connections
  4. Try the DS lite again with the battery installed.

I hope this gets you in business  Atticus. Do not Vote until we get it working.  Try this and add a comment to this problem posting. I will answer as soon as I possibly can. Thank you very much for the opportunity to solve your porblem with a DS Lite.

My Trigger Buttons don't work!!

This has happened to me as well. I wasn't able to find a fix, but as you've only had your DS for half a year, it's still under warranty (12 month standard on all Nintendo consoles,) so I would recommend sending it in for repairs. You can set up a repair order here:

It shouldn't take too long, when I sent mine in on a tuesday afternoon, it was back by friday.

Hope this helps.

Still not charging

i'm not sure that you can actually check if the battery does not accept charge, you might want to ring the distributer and see if they can send you a replacement battery :)

Does not power up or turn on.

I think that this problem is caused by either f1 or f2 fuses being blown. The other problem mentioned where the green light comes on for a second then goes out again is usually caused by the cable connecting the top screen to the motherboard, it is either broken, damaged or incorrectly seated.

Write File error!

Thanks for giving the card name, that helps to investigate possible causes of your problem.

The common causes of these problems are full cards memory because the seller fill the memory with game roms to make the device sell more attractive, though to save games you need memory and completelly filling the memory capacity of these cards make them to have issues like the ones you told before.

The good thing is that you can connect the NDSL to your PC throught the suplied USB cable and SLOT-2 (GBA game slot) N-Card Flash Linker cartridge.
You can download the required software latest files from the manufacturers website. Once connected, turn on your DS, your PC will recognize it and you will be able to drag and drop files, then you can delete or copy some less used game roms or save files from the card to your PC leaving free space for the others to run.

If nothing of that works for you, then you would try to find a FAQ or support forum site where you can find more options to solve this issue.

Good Luck...
