Connecting a DVD/VCR combo to LCD TV

Hi,
I have an LG 42" LCD and an LG DVD/VCR combination unit connected with the co-axial cable from the wall to the TV and from the TV to the VCR/DVD. There are also the red, white and red cables attached from the TV to the DVD/VCR and set the channel at AV1 when using it. The problem is the reception when using the VCR on AV1. The picture has static and wavy lines with "snow" etc and naturally when recording the playback is the same. The DVD is OK and TV reception is fine when set to digital. I've tried a different VCR and same problem. Does anybody know how I can fix this problem? Thanks,
Bob

The best suggestion I would advise is to buy a shielded scart connector & connect that from your DVD combi to either AV1 OR AV2. It sounds as if you are picking up RF interference from your current connections, this can sometimes happen if the cables do not have adequate shielding.

I bought my 2yr old son a daewoo vcr combo tv model # dvq13h1fc and it didn't come with a remote. It does not have a menu button on the tv, so im trying to figure out how I can hook his dvd player up so he...

Many combo tvs are simplified so as to play its own dvds or in this case its own vhs tapes. Never purchase a combo unit unless you wish it to be stand alone. Always look for how many plug-ins are on a tv before you purchase it. The number of plug-ins is a sure way of telling the quality of the tv or any other device. If all you have is a co-axial input then use that to send a signal from a dvd player that has a co-axial in and a co-axial out. Turn the tv to channel 3 to play through a dvd player. Use the remote control from the cable company to change channels on their box and change the volume manually unless you can find a setting for that to change the internal volume in the cable box.

Why does neither the co-axial cable from my DVR Cable box nor the one from my TV fit into the coaxial plug on the Magnavox ZV427MG9 DVD Recorder/VCR Combo ?

Check the coaxial cable connector type. There are two kinds--one that look like the RCA connector that you can just push in.

The other kind has a nut that you have tighten over the coaxial cable connector on the DVD recorder.

Vcr connection

You need to check the input selection on your tv on screen menu. Some AV in settings will pick up part of a signal but not all. Make sure you try all input selections.
To prove that the problem is not in the AV lead.....try connecting it on another small tv with a known working DVD/TV combination.

Need to know what channel my TV needs to be on to watch DVD/VCR

The channel you use depends on how you have the vcr/dvd player wired to it. If you used a co-axial wire, then your tv should be on channel 3. If you used RCA wires, then you will have a button, either on the front of the tv, on the remote, or both that says "input" or "source". Pressing this will change the TV to the rca connectors. Try this and let me know if it helps :)

Connecting VCR to TV

Oh man dont shoot your stuff instead use your remote and go to your menu and select your input. You tv is looking at your coaxial input but you can select which input you want. 1, 2 front back whatever you need. channell 3 or 4 has nothing to do with connecting up your dvd if you connect and choose the front connection in your menu.

If you have the original remote controller, try to switch inputs. It must be on the f-connection ( coaxial) at the moment. You need to switch it to RCA or S-Video Inputs.

Connecting dvd/vcr combo with tv and digital cable box.

You trying to put the DVD/VCR combo between the cable box and the TV? OK, cable out goes to vcr in, vcr out goes to tv, I think you got that. Now there should be a tv/vcr button on the vcr/dvd, you need to press that when the unit is on. Also, make sure you are on the correct input on both the vcr and the tv, usually video 1 or AUX and choose line in or L1 on the vcr/dvd. If the tv/vcr button is toggled, itll completely bypass the vcr/dvd player.

Connecting VCR/DVD combo

If you are able to you can connect to the RF connector (F Type Conncetor) on the TV. This should work. The layout is from the VCR (RF to TV) to the TV antenna F type connector from your Cable box to the Antenna in of the VCR that way you have cable through the VCR, and access to you VCR and DVD all controlled by the Cable and VCR remotes (set TV to Channel 3, set VCR to Channel 3) and use the Cable box as the tuner, Use the TV remote to switch between Cable and VCR inputs then use the VCR remote to switch between the VCR and DVD input.
