Question about Averatec 6200H Notebook

Power problem Averatec 6200

My notebook is getting power from the adapter very inconsistently. I had the adapter replaced which didn't fix the problem. Sometimes I can get a period of consistency if I wiggle the adapter end at the computer up or press it down. I think the issue is internal because there are two contact points in the adapter end opposite each other, and when I put it into the computer and wiggle it upward I get power, even when the contacts are on either side of the peg rather than above and below.

Is there any way to expose the power supply in the notebook to see if anything is loose or not connecting properly? Is this something I can try myself or should I take the computer in?

Re: power problem Averatec 6200

You should take it in for repair if you are not familiar with notebook repairs. From what you are saying it seems as though your DC Port Adapter has a problem. This is the port where you plug your ac adapter into the notebook. In some cases a repair tech can correct that problem otherwise the mainboard is replaced. Being that you do no have a broken pin and or the port is not secure on the board the repair of it may only reqiure a little soldering by a professional. If I were you I would not take that chance being that you can damage the board and they can be expensive. It can also be sent back to he manufacturer for repair of that port. They would either replace the port of repair it.

Hope this helps you...

I don't see any updates for windows 7. If there are any, they would be here: . You can either have the site "scan" your computer, or find your computer by category and then model. Good luck.

There is no such manual as this is a dangerous self fix. Look for a generic OEM replacement on Ebay.
