Question about Sony BDP-S590 Blu-ray Disc Player BDPS590
Sony is prompting me in blu ray mode to erase bd data and either my universal remote will activate it or the sony remote will not activate it I had to turn off my system to get back to cable

usually universal remote controls DO NOT (and most remtoes cannot communicate with the sony ps3) include codes for this...most remotes are imposible to do this.

I have the same problem with the Sony SBD-s360 blue ray and the Verizon Fios remote. Not codes work and I tried over 1000 search codes with no luck. Verizon needs to replace the remote with a later model

Tap the "Theater" button on the remote. You should see either "Theater Mode: On" or "Theater Mode: Off". If it is off, tap it again to turn it on and wait for it to go away. Now tap again (should say "Theater Mode: On") and then press and hold it for about a second. This should actually turn it off, as opposed to just pretending to. Works on my larger Sony KDL.
