Loud AC unit outside trane high efficiency xb1000

Do not know much about my AC unit, all I know that it is a bit smaller then normal, one's I've seen. We moved into a house and moving from an apartment we didn't notice the big difference in noise but our neighbor told us that this is the first year it is ''this loud'' does this seem like it is a serious problem? the reason I am asking is I purchased a service contract but it does not kick in for 30 days.

fyi... the unit is cooling just fine, just the loud noise

the unit is a trane high efficiency xb1000

The noise could be the fan trying to pull air through the condensor. Service cleaning should improve cooling and lower noise level.

Brand New 2 weeks old 4 ton Trane compressor leaks a lot of water onto pad

If the unit is running in cold weather than there is ice building up on the coils located outside. This is normal in that the unit is running in heat pump mode heating inside and cooling outside, After the unit detects the ice build up it briefly reverses the cycle heating the outside coils melting(defrosting) the ice which you observe as water on the pad.

The video gives you an example of the defrost cycle!

New A/C Unit makes loud noise when it starts up

It shouldn't be too loud. You don't explain where the noise is coming from? The air handler/furnace or the outdoor unit.

How can I make the ac quieter inside the house?

If you have hard ducts, you can use some flex duct between the supply plenum and the hard ducts as a way to quiet the noise down.

I have a trane XB1000 unit (DOB around 2000). Was cooling fine, but noted a whining noise at the outside unit. Loudest near the base below compressor tank. Interior filter clean, a-coil fairly clean,...

If the sound is coming from the outdoor unit, check fan blade if unbalance and if the compressor is making the noise, an internal mounting spring must be broken, be ready to replace the compressor when the internal pipe got broken.

Where would the reset switch be located on a goodman ac unit

There shouldn't be a reset switch. The only units I've ever seen or heard of having a reset switch were old Rheem condenser, they had a high pressure switch that you could reset by pressing a red plastic button, but even Rheems no longer have them and I've never heard of Goodman using them.

What problem are you having with your A/C system? And why are you looking for a reset for it? Please repost your question and give us a bit more info so that we may help you with your probelm.

Upper fan comes on, then ignition, flame from main burner, starts to kick in lower fan, then I can here tripper noise from contactor. Unit shuts down. This repeats itself. I checked rubber tube, cleaned...

I have seen something similar on a trane high efficiency gas furnace. It was a defective
flame sensor. (about 60 dollars). I would strongly recommend having a tech look at the
unit though. Hope this helps.

Trane xe 1000 - 1/4 fan motor went bad - I replaced it with a used 1/3 from another trane unit - it had same wiring harness etc everything starts, runs, cools -cold air - but only for about 5...

Did the 2 fans have the same rpm. If there is not enough airflow through the outside unit the compressor will shutdown on high discharge pressure. Also make sure the fan blades are positioned right if there is a shroud for them. Did the other motor have a capacitor with it or did you use the 1 from the smaller motor. Sometimes the motor data plate will tell you what size capacitor you need. Let me know what you find.

My rooftop Trane A/C unit shows high humidity on the thermostat, will not cool the house during the day but cools fine at night. What could the problem be? Also, how can I lower the humidity in the house?

High humidity causes Icing of the cooling coils. Avoid constant running of the a/c. Meaning let the AC pull the house dow 2 - 3 degrees at a time.. The unit shutting off will allow the ice to melt. Make sure the drain is clear by going outside and chkg for drainage. Once the house is reasonably dehumidified the ac can be set and left on its own.
