The Libretto has two PCMCIA ports which can be used for many purposes in addition to the floppy disc. These can hold 2 x 5mm cards (type II) or 1 x 10.5mm card (type III). The modem, floppy drive, and CD Rom connect via these ports, but they can be used for wireless network cards, USB adaptors, Bluetooth cards, LAN cards, memory card readers etc etc.
PCMCIA wireless card (MA401).--this is the only card wich supports your system in windows 95:--The MA401 performs with a wide range of wireless Internet services available in airports and hotels, and supports PCs running Windows 95, 98, Me, NT, and 2000 and most notebook PCs. Netgear provides a five-year limited warranty on the MA401 802.11b wireless PC Card. ----if you have windows 98 ,windows 2000 etc etc then there are hundreds of cards to be working and supporting, but for windows 95 only this will support.

I just bought a Toshiba PA1260U-T2A 70CT/1.6 with the IO adaptor. Every thing seems to work on it and it has windiwo 98. However How do you load programs into it? I can't find any manuals for it...

On those laptops you want to check the size of the hard drive and the ram on them before you do anything to them! They didn't make them too fast or with a big HDD so you might not be able to really install anything on it. You could always buy an external cd-rom and install programs through that since we no longer us the floppy didks and you won't find anymore programs on them... Let me know if this solved the problem and good luck..

Screen has no power

1. take a flashlight and light on the display after you started the computer and waited for about 5 minutes, if you can see the windows environment the inverter needs to be replaced (normally it's in the display frame under the display)
2. attach an external monitor to the laptop and boot. if the monitor shows something you don't have a defective graphic-card (maybe you must push fn + one of the fn-buttons showing a monitor)

if you don't get anything displayd by an external monitor the graphic-card might be defective - you would need a "new" motherboard then

Upgrade the Toshiba Libretto 50 CT

if you want to improve the speed of your laptop you could buy a faster harddrive with an higher rpm per minute than the one installed in the unit, that WILL speed up the system:), and yes its possible to boot from the 2gb flash card but i recommend if you are going to use a flash card you get a bigger one:)
Cheers

Toshiba satellite 2805-S301 laptop wireless card

Not wireless ready - as none of the 2805's were ever pre-wired with wireless card antennas. You can install a PCMCIA wireless card, or use a USB wireless adapter. Either one will work - the PCMCIA cards will be faster.

How can I connect a wireless adapter to my toshiba portege 660 cdt as there is not a port on it for the usb to fit in to

Hi,

I am assuming that your wireless adapter is USB and that your Toshiba Portege 660 CDT has a PCMCIA slot. If yes then you would need something like a PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card adapter as shown here. The added advantage is that you would have an extra USB port. Just pls make sure that the PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card adapter you will purchase is compatible with your laptop and has drivers appropriate for your Operating System.

Alternately, you can try swapping your USB WiFi for a PCMCIA version similar to this. Again, pls make sure that the PCMCIA Wireless network card you will purchase is compatible with your laptop and has drivers appropriate for your Operating System.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the wireless switch

There isnt a switch for a PCMCIA wireless card. Most likely the driver did not install correctly.

make sure the card is plugged in. then right click "my computer1.gif" and click properties then click hardware1.gif then device manager. I bet there is a device called "network controller" with a yellow "!" through it. Next make sure the linksys install CD is in the drive, and doubleclick "netowrk controller" then click reinstall driver and let it "automatically find the driver". it should reload the correct one from the CD.

let us know if this helps.

Wireless

you may struggle if youve got win 95 on it, and only if you got usb ports,go for a wireless usb adapter if you can find one, as sometimes the pcmcia driver can be a bit fiddly and cause problems with pcmcia wireless cards. Although there are win 95 expansion cards available most are only 11MBPS transfer speeds as apposed to the 54MBPS and 108MBPS cards now available for other operating systems
