SOURCE: How to connect headphones to this tv.

The only way to accomplish this will require an external amplifier.

Connect the program out to the input of the external amp and use the headphones from there. Disconnect the speakers or turn them off in the audio menu.

Hope this helps,

How do I connect my I phone to play through the speakers of my Sony SS-CEH15?

If your phone has a stereo headphone jack and your receiver has a standard AUX input, you can use a mini-headphone-to-RCA plug adaptor cord. I have included a link just to show a picture; I am not endorsing nor recommending the seller or the product.

How to connect dish tv to my laptop? It has inbuilt tv tuner.

Your Lenovo laptop can be hooked up your TV if you have a model that is capable of TV output. Newer models with HDMI ports can easily connect to newer TVs that have HDMI input jacks. For older laptops or TVs, you will need other adapters or cables. The most common of these is an S-video jack, which has a small round connector with several pins arranged in a circle. For S-video connections, you will need to hook up the audio from your laptop to your TV separately.

Things You'll Need

HDMI cable

USB-to-HDMI adapter

OR

S-video cable

Audio cables

HDMI Connection

Turn on your Lenovo laptop and HDMI-enabled TV.

Connect one end of your HDMI cable to the HDMI port on your laptop. Lenovo's IdeaPad series has these ports. If you have a ThinkPad or other Lenovo model, connect a USB-to-HDMI adapter to your HDMI cable, then plug the USB end of the adapter into any USB port.

Press the "FN" and "F7" keys on your keyboard. This will switch the laptop's display to the TV. You can then use your TV screen as a monitor or use the laptop's DVD drive to watch movies on your TV.

S-Video Connection

Turn off your laptop and TV. Connect your S-video cable to the laptop on one end and the TV on the other.

Plug audio cables into your audio out jacks on the laptop. If you do not have stereo audio output, you can use the headphone/speaker jack. Add a splitter adapter to split the sound into stereo instead of mono (single speaker). Plug the other ends of the audio cables into your TV.

Turn on the laptop and let it boot up. Then turn on the TV. Right-click on your desktop screen, then select "Properties."

Click the "Settings" tab, the "Advanced" button, then "ATI displays" or "Display device" or the similarly worded option, depending on your system. It is not the "On screen displays" option in any version.

Click on the option that suits your system, such as "TV" or "LCD." Click "Apply," then "Yes" to confirm, if necessary. Click "OK" to exit. Your display should be visible on the TV screen. If not, try pressing "FN" and "F7" to toggle the display to the external screen.

Hi I've bought myself a new computer but can not get sound out of tv. When I'm in the real tek software i can only choose analog output. What can I do? Acer aspire 7551g. I use hdmi cabel

Here are two suggestions:
The simplest method
1. turn off tv and laptop
2. hook up hdmi cable from laptop and then to hdtv
3. turn on laptop and once the laptop has booted fully,
4. turn on tv and select the source....
If the above doesn't work, then try
1. hdmi cable is connected from laptop to hdtv
2. on the laptop go to Control Panel
3. select sounds
4. change default from speakers to hdmi

Hello, When I connect my headset on my laptop Asus a7sv I get sound but no sound from the speakers. I have Windows Vista en I downloaded the original driver from the asus website. I tried everything....

Most headphone jacks operate as you describe. There is a switch built into the jack that diverts the audio from the speakers to the headphones for "private listening". If it didn't work this way, there would be no way that you could enjoy an audio track or other program with others having to hearing it, too.

You could get around this problem by using an external speaker set and a "splitter cable".
moz-screenshot.pngfaaa714.jpg
A splitter cable is simply a three ended cable like the one pictured above. The first end has a male plug that matches the jack on your computer - likely a stereo mini plug. The other two ends are usually the same; but the female version. You would plug the splitter into the SPEAKER jack and the laptop speakers would be silenced. Next, you would plug the the external speakers into one of the splitter jacks and then your headset would plug into the remaining splitter jack. You would connect the microphone plug into the MIC jack on the laptop.

You'll have to tinker with the sound levels as there will be feedback issues - depending on how close and loud the speakers are to the headset microphone.

Please rate this reply - and good luck!

I am trying to run the sound from my Packard Bell imedia x4520 computer through my Hifi amp. I think I have followed all the links on the PC regarding setting up the realtek sound for setting up external...

It sounds like the 3.5 plug is mono or the plug is not completely inserted in the computer jack (push it in until you do not see any more of the contacts). I connected one of my computers to my stereo receiver and used a splitter so I could use both my computer speakers and the stereo without disconnecting any cables. First make sure your 3.5 jack looks like the one in the link with three contacts and two insulators (the black plastic piece).
http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=2009&sku=40421#
If you see only one insulator and two contacts it is mono and the second channel will be shorted out.
I would recommend using the Front Line Out which is a pre amp output into your auxiliary input on your home amplifier. If you use the headphone jack you may have clipping of the signal causing distortion.
Use the cable similar to the one in the link below or you can purchase one at Lowes or Target.
http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat_id=2009&sku=40427#
Plug the splitter male jack into the into the computer Front Line Out and the computer speakers into one female jack.
Second connect an 3.5mm to RCA stereo patch cord to the other female jack of the splitter. If you have a 3.5mm to RCA mono purchase one similar to the link below.

I connected my DELL MINI Inspirion 10 via HDMI to LCD TV. have a good pic, but haven any sound (can play movie, but nothing voice). Check everything, no find problem. Can u help me?

Hi
HDMI is only used for Video output and not for sound, you will have to use your laptop audio out (has a pic of headphones), you are able to get headphone jack to phono (white / Red) cable to connect to TV or surround sound system or your laptop speakers.

Laptop connected to TV via 23pin cable and setup

You have to connect the laptop to the TV by using the headphone jack on the laptop.
Only then, will the sound be sent over to the TV, and automatically the speakers on the laptop will stop working.

Get a cable to connect them from the headphone jack to an appropriate input on the TV.

Hope I helped,
Tom

5650 Dell 5.1 Speaker Cable needed

You can buy any headphone splitter that you want for this, you won't have the surround sound option (which you didn't to begin with because you were using the 3-to-1 splitter anyways). I was just on the phone with Dell for an hour to try and replace that three female 3.5 mm jack to 1 male 3.5 mm jack only for him to tell me that they don't carry it and all I really need is a splitter. What a nightmare, but at least I can fix it! What you can do if you want a longer one is to buy the splitter to plug your three ends into and then just by a 3.5mm male to 3.5 mm female extension...should work! Hope that helps!

No, that's not going to work. Digital output is just that....Digital. Your trying to send a digital into analog....won't work. Your tv don't have red and white audio out. That's what you hook to, but it still wouldn't be 5.1. Your out of luck my friend. The ONLY way you'll get 5.1 out of that T.V. is to get a 5.1 reciever with CO-AX digital input...the SAME as whats on your T.V. You can only hook-up sound to your X-FI with the line in jack using a y-connector and 1/8" stereo plug....and it won't ever be 5.1. It can't that way. Only way to get 5.1 to work on the blaster is with the tosh-link optical input cable. This too is digital, but uses optics to send it. Remember, you are playing with 2 different formats. Analog with your white/red thing you made and then digital. Digital using co-ax or optical tosh-link. Completely different.....as you now know.

Connection to Laptop

Since the majority of laptops do not have multiple sound outputs you will need to buy a couple of headphone splitters. Plug the first Y splitter into the laptop headphone port and plug one of the input cables going to the speakers in one arm of the Y. Next, plug another Y splitter in the remaining arm of the first Y. This will provide you with the other two inputs that you need. Plug the remaining speaker cables into the other Y arms. From there it is simply controlling the speakers using the laptop volume and/or the speakers volume. You will not have fader control on a 3.1 or 5.1 speaker system but it will give you what you are looking for. I have this same configuration at my office using an IBM laptop and a 5.1 surround sound system. Good luck. JC
