Distorted sound especially if it is being touched.

I don't know what the answer IS but this may be a dangerous situtation if it reacts to being touched by you. A missing power or signal ground could be involved. Don't ground your body while touching the unit until you resolve the problem.

Bad signal ground isn't really dangerous. Try reseating every RCA cable with a twisting motion.

Disconnect the input(s) and see if it hums in the absence of an audio source. A bad audio cable shield or unwisely-routed audio cables will allow entrance of unwanted signals from external power sources, magnetic fields, even dimmer-controlled track lights. Sometimes, simply reversing the orientation of the ac power plug can eliminate humming.

Reverse the cables Left to Right to see if it stays with the cable or the input channel. Follow it back to the source, isolating in the same manner. Eventually you will find the entrance point of the hum. Frequently a cable's ground will oxidize over time and simply removing and reattaching the cable with a twisting motion will re-establish the shield.

Where can i find a free diagram of where the alternator is located on a 1995 saturn sc1

The location can best be seen by reading the replacement procedures. It is well hidden behind the right front wheel's splash shield. If you plan on replacing it yourself; You'll have the instructions.

Disconnect the negative battery cable...Remove the serpentine drive belt, use a wrench on the tension pulley to remove belt...Raise and support the vehicle...Remove the right front wheel...Remove the right wheel splash shield; it is two parts...Remove the alternator dust shield; it is attached with one bolt and one clip...Remove the two sets of wires from the alternator; one has a clip to connect it to the alternator and one is bolted to the alternator; be very gentle with the bolted one so you do not break the plastic insulator (especially during re-installation)...remove the upper and lower attaching bolts from the alternator; the top boltis easyto get to from the top of the engine, the bolt is just below the power steering unit...remove alternator through the wheel well opening...To re-install follow the steps in reverse.
