This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

You just check whether there is Infrared Emisson comes from your remote control handset or not. You can check it by camera option of your mobile phone. Put the mobile phone to camera mode, and point your remote hanset's infrared LED side towards the lens of your mobile phone, at about one foot away or so, and press the remote buttons one by one. You will see an image of light on your mobile phone's screen. Check it for every buttons of your remote control pressed. There is a chance for some buttons of it may inoperative due to dust or rubber mud accumulation inside it.
If any one of your remote's control gives you the emission image on your mobile screen, you can make sure that the internal circutary of the remote handset is normal, and the fault is due to tha above said. If so, open the remote control carefully, without making any damage to its rubber touch pad. Seperate the printed circuit board out from it, and clean its print side which comes in contact with the rubber keypad, with some mild solvents. Never use gasoline or such hard solvents, which may damage it. I uses pure Turpentine, [Medical Quality] for this purpose. The dust and dirt problem will be resoved with this.
If you gets the above said image to all your pressings on the remote control as said above, surely the remote sensor inside your tv is faulty, and it should be replaced with same type and number. OK.
