Question about Refrigerators

Ice maker is afflicted

Unfortunately i don't know anything about this side by side. i do know that the ice maker is making "incomplete" cubes. I know that isn't very clear. Perhaps saying the cubes are hollow will help. they seem to stick then to the "teeth" at the top of the maker. i understand if this is way too confusing:)

Hello there. Sorry for your trouble. Your problem is common. I will try to help u. here is some information to get you started:

If the ice maker is producing ice poorly--making small cubes or too few cubes--you probably have a clogged water line, a defective water-inlet valve, or a defective ice maker mold thermostat that isn't cycling properly. Check these:

  • The water line that's attached to the back of the refrigerator. Make sure you have good water flow. If the flow is poor, repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water.

  • The water-inlet valve. Replace it if it has failed.

  • Check the freezer temperature. If should be 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker mold thermostat. Make sure that it's cycling properly.
Get back and let me know if this helped and what is still a problem.

Ice maker make ice but not come out

Hi there! If the ice maker is making ice properly but is not pushing it through tot he bucket or to the door dispenser, it is clogged somewhere. This could be from melted ice cubes blocking the pathway or even a faulty switch arm (or auger) that pushes the ice cubes forward. Check those areas and let me know if you find anything additional or out of place. Also check for any cracks in the ice maker housing.

The automatic ice cube maker continues to make ice cubes when the tray is full. It also dispenses crushed ice when the Cube option is selected.

You have a frozen selnoid that opens a door to let ice to pass crusher. And also the ice maker needs a different arm so not to make too much ice. You will have to call a tech to do the job. But now you know what is wrong. I hope this helps.

Ice maker over makes ice then ice cube tray cannot empty and new water comes in and overflows into ice bin. stop are does not seem to be low enough to cut off production.

unfortunately there is no sensor to tell the ice maker to stop production so this will happen. sounds like the unit makes more ice that your family uses which normally would be a good thing... just shut the ice maker off until time to make some more and then switch back on ...
hope this helps you out.....

GE side by side refrigerator

Mike, Most times when this happens it's the water control valve for the ice maker side that becomes defective. If using an OHM meter you unplugged the 2 coils and read the OHM's they should be very close to equal. The part number for the water control valve is WR57X10032 and the part number for the ice maker is WR30X10093 Unfortunately the ice maker is electronic and there are no replaceable parts. You can test the ice maker by filling with tap water allow to freeze and if it dumps then the ice maker is good and the water control valve is bad, Thanks, Please Rate Me, Sea Breeze

Water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Ice Maker not working

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze
