Yes these phone's are sensitive to the phone jack its plugged into as it powers the backlight and the whole phone itself. You need to check and see at the NID Network Interface device outside and check and see how much voltage you got comming in there. This is a problem too with the phone is if you have more then two phones in the house on this NID, Trust me I have this phone and it is verry sensitive and it requires poer to run the unit this is a factory issue as well they built these phones without thinking about the customers situation.

thanks

How do I know if my phone base is faulty on my house phone, it says "no line" and the lights are working. I have tried reset. Any ideas?

Unplug it from the connection at the wall and use another phone to see if the phone wiring in the house works. If you don't hear dial tone in the test phone, then the problem is the wiring in the house or the phone lines. If you hear dial tone then the problem is in the base of the other phone.

My in house telephones are not working, but the internet is working.WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE THE TEELEPHONE WORK AGAIN.

Have you paid the phone bill? Are you supposed to have phone service?

Providing that you have a contract with the phone company and it's paid up, take a hardwire telephone out to the grey junction box on the outside of the house. Open the junction box and plug your phone into one of the two phone jacks inside, Try the phone. If you get no dial tone, try the other phone jack.

If you get no dial tone from either phone jack, borrow a hardwire telephone from a neighbor and try both jacks again with the borrowed telephone.

If no dial tone with your phone or your neighbor's phone, then the problem is on the phone company's side of that junction box.

If your neighbor's phone works but yours doesn't, the problem is your phones - lightening strike, maybe?

If your phone works in the junction box but not inside the house, then the wiring from the junction box to your house jacks has a bad connection somewhere. Someone - you or someone else - will have the arduous task of tracking down where that bad connection is.

I don't get a dial tone when I pick up the phone both the base and the extention both are dead but I have a fax machine also on another line and it works ok

to test the phone system. unplug the phones that are not working from the telephone jack. Install a phone on that phone jack that you know works (an old one or a cheap new phone). If the new phone works on the phone line in question, then your cordless phones are the problem and not the house phone line. If you plug the known working phone into the wall and it now does not work, then you have a problem with the wall outlet or the connection to the house. If it is a phone line or house connection problem, call your phone company. If it is your cordless unit, try them at a different phone outlet or at some other house to see if they work anywhere.

Loud mum with dial tone on Uniden portable phones

Try moving the main base to a different part of the house, if that doesnt work, change the telephone line cord.

In one house works but in other dont

depends on what kind of phone it is. Most phones at offices belong to a Telephone System and will only work on that system, and never work at your home. It sounds like you took your office phone home to try it there. Since it doesn't work, you should take it back to the office.

Got a dialling tone but couldn't make a call

Cnavarro,
my existing phones work fine but the new phone is really weird. tested Ok at the supplier's store and perfect at my friends' houses. But once tested at any of the phone outlet in my house, after keying the first 3 numbers....PLEASE CHECK YOUR NUMBER AND DIAL AGAIN etc... the scenario telling me my phone service in my house is OK and the new phone tested OK at other locations.

????
See if you could give me some clues....thanks

How do check the wires to one jack in my house. it is the only jack that is dead. I replaced the jack but phone still doesn't work. Phone works fine at other jacks in the house.

Look at the wiring on the jacks that are working, notice the color of the wires on the screw terminals and try to match them to the jack that is not working. The installer usually tries to keep the same wiring colors through out the house. Good Luck

No dial tones on all the phones.internet still works. when you dial the house, phone line has busy signal.

If you have dial up internet, turn off your computer and try it. If you have DSL then a wire has come loose at your phone box. There are 4 wires that come into your house from the phone connection. Phones use 2 of them and DSL uses the other 2.

Phones Dead but DSL OK

A short inside the house should also disable the DSL service, but you can rule out this possibility by disconnecting the inside wiring from the outside wiring at the entrance box. If you still can't get a dial tone when you clip onto the incoming wires, then you need to contact your local phone company to have them find the problem and restore your phone service.
Good luck...and I hope this is helpfull!!

No Dial Tone

I have found this free link on BT site for you
http://www.shop.bt.com/content/uni2/documentation/498n/025455.pdf

If the second handset works ok on the base and the first handset doesn't, then you are right...the fault lies with the first handset. There are batteries ( special type ) in the handset, it sound as if either the batteries are dead, or not charged ( try charging them for 12 hours on the good base station ) or the connection is bad.
