Problem faxing using magic jack

I have a Brother Intelifax 770 fax that I am trying to use with Magic Jack. I am getting error messages. How do I change the speed to use it with Magic Jack?

I have read other places that if you slow down your fax machine it can be used with Magic Jack...I just don't know how to slow my fax machine down to try it. I got it used and do not have the owners manual.

I'm not sure magic jack will handle fax communications. I know that VOIP (voice over IP) will not handle fax signals, or it doesn't do it well if it does. Check with the info you got with your magic jack before you alter your fax machines settings and open pandoras box!

I'm not very techinal at all but my HP office jet pro 8500 fax works with my Magic Jack only with a DLS filter splitter-left side says DLS and the right says phone - hook the pig tail to the right side of the Magic Jack plus- all I can say it works for me-hope this helps-

My accountant for some reason couldn't fx all those pages, my dad faxed less. Don't know if this helped but someone once told me to set the fax to begin after more ends than 2. Who knows. I haven't tried to fax yet. Only to receive but I use my puter

FAX MACHINE WILL NOT WORK WITH MAGIC JACK

Magic Jack will work with fax machines. You may have to experiment by slowing down the fax machines modem transmits speed. This is done in the machines menu.

The Magic Jack manual is quite clear, it can handle faxing.

Machine not sending information.

Yes, most definately so. There are ways to boost the output signal of your machine but these days nobody has had to do it because lines are much clearer in the western hemisphere. The Magic Jack is great for voice calling but the faxes need instant responses from each other to progress through the initial training protocol and onto the document transmission. You may, if you have one, try another magic jack. It could be down to your particular Magic Jack. Try faxing without the Magic Jack.

Using MagicJack for faxing; however, Brother MFC 290C is stating poor line condition - why? Also say's low ink Magenta - would that create this problem?

I had the same problem trying to send out faxes out using my Brother MFC 7340. I use a magic jack phone line. Page 106 of the user manual says if sending via VOIP phone line, you should press menu, then 2, 0, 1 to select "Basic (for VOIP) mode. Then press ok. Then press stop/exit. This cuts the modem speed down to 9600 bps and turns ECM off. Then retry to send the fax. I did that and can now send and receive faxes.
