Question about Frigidaire PLHS267ZA Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

PLHS267ZA is leaking water from the bottom (freezer side)

Have a PLHS267ZA Frigidaire and noticing that water is dripping from the bottom of the freezer side. It does sometimes look like it is coming from inside the freezer and seeping out. I have taken everything out and ensured that there are no blocks but still nothing. What other things should I be looking for and what else could it be? Not having a lot of luck finding a solution for my model easily. I also am not noticing it doing it at set times like if I am getting water or if it is making ice...seems to be random.

I would look under the fridge for a drip pan that might be full, so when it defrost it overflows the pan and runs on the floor. If not that you must have a blockage somewhere in the drain line that runs to the drip pan. Take out the shelves and take off the plastic panels to access the drain and drain line, pour some warm water down the drain to unplug it.

SOURCE: side by side gallery ...water leak

  • it sounds like the water valve is not closing fast enough.
  •  this will cause the ice-maker to overflow a little.
  •  your ice-maker may have an adjustment on it to control how long it keeps the water valve on.
  • it should be a screw with a + and - sing on it. it may be under the ice-maker plastic cover.
  • if it keeps doing it then you may need a new water valve.

First lets decide where your leak actually is.

Areas to consider:
This is mostlikely a stopped up drain pan. A cold area that is not suppose to be cold likewhen you have a freezer coil that is suppose to be defrosting and is not... Seebelow for a more complete ideas list of things to check under Possibility.

The drain pan drain line is themost common. Inspect it and repair as needed, maybe its just a wrapper over the exit hole of the pan.
Some more Possibility's:

1 There is a drain that carries away the water under the cooling coils. Thesecoils are in the freezer section. Its most likely clogged or froze up.

2 The ice maker could be letting water leak all the way down look for an icy trail from the ice maker area.

3 Door gaskets are not sealing especially on the bottom of the door. Thisallows warmer air into the fridge section and it is condensation on floor underthe crisper.

If you check all of these items and still cant find it please post back andtell me what you did find. So I can help you more. Please rate me as much aspossible as Im trying to keep my average up and do the things that willactually educate and help people.

THANK you for using fixya and good luck..

Frigidaire frost free upright freezer door corner dripping

Hello Yellow, thank you for your post!

I understand that your Frigidaire freezer is dripping water out of the corner of the door. It is possible that with your power going out the heat may have caused the gasket to warp. Do you see any frost build-up? The water that is dripping could be coming from condensation within the freezer. I would recommend checking the gasket to see if it is allowing warm air to enter the freezer.

I recommend that you visually inspect the door gasket for defects such as gaps or tears. You can also use a dollar bill to test the door gasket. Place a dollar bill in between the door and the body of the freezer. If the dollar bill pulls out with no to little resistance, you may need to replace the door gasket. A faulty door gasket can allow warm air to enter the compartment and cause frost to condensation or a leak. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt

The guide that funnels the water into the ice maker needs to be replaced. The cause of your problem is that water is leaking into the back, freezing there, and blocking the air flow. Mine sounded like an idling semi truck with engine problems.

Water leaking from freezer.

Either the inlet valve is stuck or the icemaker solenoid is shored.

Most likely the second one.
