SOURCE: I own the singer advance

The 7442 does not have feed dogs which can be dropped. You need to use the "Darning Plate" which came with the accessories.

I don't know this machine but in most machines the feed dogs are normally lowered from a switch beside the bobbin case behind the door of the bobbin case.

How do I raise or lower the feed dogs

The older machines had the switch directly behind the needle mechanism. Reach behind the machine and see if you can feel it. It should be a slider type of switch. The real old machines did not have the capability of raising and lowering the feed dogs, so an index card was taped over the dogs so that they would not interfere with free motion. Good luck!!

Error message asking to lower feed dogs before embroidering, feed dogs were lowered

Try raising and lowering the feed dogs a couple times there may be something in there that's tripping the sensor.

I need to know how to lower the feed dogs on my Huskystar Viking E10

There is a switch on machine to raise feed dogs up/down. Remove any extension table to locate it because many of these options are located in the back of machine & hidden by table! Jimmy :)

The feed dogs are not pulling the fabric

A couple things can cause this. Very lightweight and slippery fabrics and too heavy of fabric. Lowered or worn feed dogs, not lowering the presser foot lever....

Check your manual for a switch to lower the feed dogs. If that is in the correct position, you may need to have the dogs replaced. Contrary to popular belief, they do get worn.

Good luck

Can the feed dogs be lowered? And need a manual....

Manuals will be difficult to find because the companies limit themsleves to the amount of spares they make, open the slide plate and see if there is a drop feed lever, if not you may have raised plates instead.

How to Drop Feed Dogs on Sewing Machine...

On many machines you tilt the machine back on its hinges to see the underside and there you will find a thumbscrew to lower the feed dogs...you also need to be sure that your machine is capable of having its feed dogs lowered...not all machines can do this!

Raising and Lowering the feed dog on Janome 4900 MC

These machines are known to have this problem. The feed lift cam has a groove worn in it that won't allow the feed dogs to come back up. It is on the lower shaft and needs to be replaced. You can get the feed dogs back up by taking off the needle plate and lifting them up manually while turning the hand wheel. They should stay up until you drop them again.
Some people will not replace the cam and live with it.
good luck!

Feed dog switch

Did you turn the handwheel? The feed teeth will not come up until the machine is operated. Run it a few stitches and they will come up.

Feed dogs

I was having trouble with this too, but found more help online...you have to switch the dog feed back to 'up'....then turn the needle wheel toward you....the feed dog should snap back into place :)
Hope this helps :D
