Question about HP Officejet 4315 All-in-One Printer

HP OfficeJet 4315 stopped printing

I tried to copy a page and it printed the first 1/3 of page clearly then the next 1/3 was fading and the last 1/3 of page was blank. I replaced the black ink cartridge with same results. I cleaned the contact points per the instructions and also the ink slot (not recommended) then aligned the printer and there was , NO printing so alignment failed. Now the printer will not print at all.

Try to put off the cartridge and then turn off the printer. Rest it for 15 minutes, then turn it on put the cartridge back again. If still didn't work out if you have spare cartridges try replacing it.OR click on the link http://tinyurl.com/3z7w9cto know how to insert ink cartridge to the printer

press and hold :
OK and CANCEL, while keeping them on hold put the power cable back in ... it ll do a full NVRAM reset on it .. then it ll prompt u for the language and country follow the steps it ll be resolved ...

OR
I would suggest that you disconnect the usb cable from the printer. Then uninstall all programs related to the printer through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

After restarting the computer with the printer still disconnected you can follow the directions below to download the latest drivers.

To download the drivers you can go here. When the page opens you will need to choose your operating system. Then, from the Drivers section I would choose the full feature driver.

Once you click that, you will see a Install Now button that will allow you to immediately install the software and/or a Download Only button that will allow you to download the file for later installation.

Either option will have a link below them that says View Directions which can be used to get step by step instructions for installation of the drivers.

There are generally two print devices set up when an all-in-one with a fax is set up - one is the fax device and the other is the printer. Make sure you have the print device set as the default printer and/or that when you want to print that the printer and not the fax is selected.



Setting the proper printer as default would depend on your operating system, but for most versions of Windows you would go to the printers folder, right click on the non-fax version of the Officejet 4315 and select "Set as default".

Printer is not printing Device menu is set at fax. trying to change it to printer function to print, but manual and on line site does give guidance as to how to change. HP 4315 all in one


you can download the utility driver in the website.. the name would be HP Print diagnostic utility follow this steps
  1. Go to www.hp.com
  2. Click on "support and drivers"
  3. On step 1 click on "download drivers and software"
  4. On step 2 type the product number/ name of the printer (ex: officejet 4315 / Q8081A)
  5. (on the next page it will ask you to select your operating system. example: win xp, vista or 7) Select your operating system, then click on next.
  6. Once you click on next, you can scroll down then look for "Utility Diagnostic tools"
  7. Look for HP Print diagnostic tools then, look for the download link then you have to save it so... you don't need to keep on downloading it if you encounter same problem again w/ the printer.
  8. After downloading the driver, run it.
  9. Scan the problems on the printer. (the tool will tells you if you have issues w/ ports, default printer, printer driver and etc.)
  10. If the fix button is available click on it, if its asking to uninstall the driver please do so..
  11. Restart your computer.
  12. Check if you print any document.

NOTE: If you call HP they may ask you to pay first, because this printer is old.

I changed the printer cartridges in a hp officejet 4315 and now it won't print-flashing error meesage "Cartridge Error:refer to device documentation to trouble shoot" What do I do? i

print cartridge troubleshooting for hp officejet 4315 :

1. Remove the black print cartridge from the slot on the right. Do not touch the ink nozzles or the copper-colored contacts. check for possible damage to the copper-colored contacts or ink nozzles.
2. Reinsert the print cartridge by sliding it forward into the slot. Then push the print cartridge forward until it clicks into the socket.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for the tri-color print cartridge on the left side.
4. If the problem persists, print a self-test report to determine if there is a problem with the print cartridges.
5. If the self test report shows a problem, clean the print cartridges.
6. If the problem persists, clean the copper-colored contacts of the print cartridges.
7. If you are still experiencing problems with printing, determine which print cartridge is experiencing the problem and replace it.

HP Officejet 4315 All-in-one prints color but not black ink. It stopped printing black all of a sudden. Please advize on what to do.


check the ink level of the black cart. and try to clean the cart copper contacts with the lint free cloth..

else try it with a another set of new cart..

Good day, To print from software application (windows) follow the procedure below.(for hp officejet 4315).

1. Make sure you have paper im the input tray.
2. On the File menu in your software application. click Print.
3. Make sure the HP officejet 2315 all in one is the selected printer.
4. If you need to change settings. click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, of Preferences.
5. select the appropriate options for your print job by using the features available in the Advanced, Paper/Quality, Effects, Finishing, and COLOR tabs.
6. Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
7. Click Print or OK to begin printing.

When the HP Office jet series all-in-one front panel screen displays Memory Full, the HP Office jet all-in-one is not able to send, receive or forward faxes. Copying will also not work. WORKAROUND: Though the memory buffer should clear itself automatically after proceeding with the next task, like receiving a fax or starting a copy job, these suggestions below may help you clearing the memory buffer by:
  • Add paper to the HP Officejet series paper tray
  • Clear a possible print jam and proceed printing the fax.
  • Reduce the copying or faxing resolution via the front panel's menu.
  • Use the HP Manager to send a (group) fax or making a copy. More memory is available this way, as the HP Manager utilizes the PC memory. When sending a group fax, the HP Officejet all-in-one's memory is filled to capacity. To copy in color is only possible from the HP Officejet Manager.
  • Press START to clear the message. If this message persists, unplug the power cord, and after at least 15 seconds plug the power cord in.
CAUSE: The HP Officejet series memory may be full due to: Copying on Photo quality or sending a group dial, which will use an extensive part of the internal memory's capacity. No paper in the paper supply tray, while receiving a fax. This may result that the data remains in the buffer. Print jam while receiving a fax or copying. The data is still stored in the buffer. System error displayed on the HP Officejet display window. SUMMARY: The HP Officejet series will not fax or copy without sufficient memory to store the data of the page in the buffer before printing the receiving fax or the copy.

There is no "print mode", Fax, Copy and Scan are modes one can enter, printing on the other hand is done when a print job is detected from your computer
