List of all keyboard symbols

Hi, many symbols are found using Shift key plus a number. Some symbols are found with the AltCar key (next to the space bar) with a number Another way, is to use the table of caracters ASCII found on Internet: you use the Alt Key with the 3 digits number that matches the caracter you want. I include the link for the table.

+keyboard with Acer AspireE500-A970. How do I access the Euro symbol (lower case with Number 4) on the keyboard? Arthur

To type the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterling pound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. You can have a look at this site where it lists ways to type different currency symbols:
http://www.fonts.com/fontent/fontent_home.asp?nCo=AFMT&con=fyti_currency

Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.

Hope this helps.

Got an HP Laptop. Need to change language of keyboard to English as when I press a symbol, it brings up an incorrect one.

In the bottom right hand corner of your screen (on the taskbar), you'll see either a symbol of a keyboard (Windows Vista or Windows 7), or two letters together (Windows XP). This symbol represents the language you're currently using for your keyboard. Click on that symbol with your mouse, and select which language you'd like to use (In this case english) to resolve this problem

It sounds like you have another keyboard layout set as your default.
In Control Panel, double click "Regional and Language Options". Click the Languages Tab and then the Details button. Make sure that English-US is selected as the Default Input Language.
If another keyboard layout is listed below and you don't need it there, you can remove it to make sure it doesn't switch itself again.
Note: this is for XP. Vista will be similar, but I don't have a vista machine so I can't tell you exactly what the options will be called.
I hope this helps. Good Luck.
