I have just purchased an Apple iPhone from Ebay. The phone was new and working though I didn't play around with it as I wanted to charge it first. I connected it to the computer and it went into iTunes. I did something I now no I shouldn't have and that was to upgrade. I see that I should not have gone to 1.1.1. but 1.0.2. I do remember seeing a warning not to do this but I completely forgot when I received the phone. I think I was just impatient to see how it all works. Well now it wont accept my O2 SIM and the person I bought it from said I have now caused a serious problem with the phone. This was not a cheap purchase and I am worried sick now that I have permanently ruined the phon.

Hello, Not sure what model of the iPhone you have, however you can purchase an Apple 30-pin Digital AB Adapter (link below) to connect your iPhone to your TV. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter
Unfortunately, Apple decided to change the charger for their new iPhone. This is one change that has annoyed the tech community. When you purchase a 5, it will come with an entirely different charger that is not compatible with your other Apple products. To purchase a replacement, it can cost you about $30 on Apple’s website but I bet you could find them for cheaper on eBay.
has to open the iPhone and replace the part. The
cheapest way is to do it your self and you should get aways with around
$70. The part is available on ebay. If you want to pay to have a
service do it for you there are third party iPhone Screen Repair Services. To try to do it yourself, here's a iPhone Repair guide on how
to disassemble an iPhone. As you can see from the guide, this is not quite that easy. Maybe a
tech savvy friend can do it for you.
Like when you recieve calls? go to your settings and make sure that you have a ringtone set, turn the volume up, and check the silent switch on the side of the phone. if they are all on try and play music through the external speakers, if that doesnt work and you hear nothing then you might need a speaker replacement... you can buy these on ebay and search youtube how to open your iphone (only able to do this on 3g/3gs) and then its as simple as disconnecting a cable and removing the unit and replacing it with a new one bought of ebay. make sure to buy the right thing though.
The iphone is uninsured unless you have it under your homeowners/ car insurance, ect. You should contact Apple if you have the iphone protection plan. If you do then it will cost a significant amount less then buying a new iphone. If you didnt purchase the protection plan then you will need to buy a new iphone. Check if you are eligible for upgrade or early upgrade for a discounted price before you do though.
As of right now no iPhones will work on any carriers other than AT&T, unlocked or not. AT&T has exculsive rights to the iPhone until 2012, so unless you put an AT&T sim card in the iPhone it will not transmit.
Plus even if you could get the phone to work on another service providers network, as soon as you plugged the phone in to your computer, iTunes would disable it...
There is no legit way to unlock it or use it in Canada, though you may be able to use it as an iPod...but Apple gave AT&T a five year exclusive for service in the States...I am sure they are working on a Canadian model, though.
