SOURCE: dyson dc08 motor made rumbling sound and stopped...

Hi there SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. Almost certainly it is the motor gone :(. Take off the lid that is under your bin and look at the filter underneath, if it has a black underside and a kind of burnt smell you will need to put a new motor in. If you happen to live in Australia you can get a motor from NelsonVacuums.com.au here is a link to the correct page. Hope this helps.
happy Vacuuming!

WHAT MODEL IS SERIAL NUMBER 151-UK-A32802

Hi there Michelle, it's Jack at Dyson.

From the serial number you've provided, your Dyson vacuum is a DC08 T Allergy cylinder. You can find support for this model on our website: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08tw/dc08-telescope-wrap-allergy

Please note, spares and accessories for DC08 T will differ to the spares and accessories for the standard DC08 model. Floor tools, accessories and other parts for DC08 will not fit DC08 T, and vice versa.

If you'd like further help with your machine you're welcome to give the Dyson UK Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298. We're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

Change a fuse on a dyson dc08

Hi Tylla, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC08 includes a standard 13 amp fuse in it's plug, and this can be easily changed. With the vacuum turned off and unplugged, a small flat-bladed screwdriver can be used to remove the fuse cover and fuse.

There are no other fuses within the machine, so if your vacuum shut off while you were using it, it may have overheated. Most Dyson vacuums include a thermostat which will shut the vacuum off for protection if it begins to overheat. This can often be due to a blockage, or because the filter is overdue for a wash. The machine will reset automatically after it's cooled down for 1-2 hours, but washing the filter and checking for blockages will help prevent this from reoccurring.

If your machine has shut off and replacing the fuse in the plug doesn't help, I would encourage you to give our freephone UK Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 for some advice from our experts.

When you turn the power off on dc08,as the motor slows down you get a pop sound

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC08 is making an unusual noise when you turn it off, this could be the suction relief valve changing position. If the relief valve is activating during use there may be a blockage somewhere in your machine, and the filter may also need a wash.

To check for blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/check-the-floor-tool

In normal use we recommend washing both parts of the pre-filter at least once every 3-6 months, using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for both parts of the filter to dry completely before replacing them in the machine.

This should help, but if you continue to have difficulty after giving these steps a try, please contact our experts directly on 0800 298 0298.

Can you replace dyson on/off switch dc05 turbobrush

There are a number of places that list replacement switches. There are also a number of DC05 models, though the power switch is not likely to vary across them. Amazon, for instance, has a Dyson Switch for models including the DC05 and six other models (see here
Dyson Switch Dc03 Dc04 Dc05 Dc07 Dc08 Dc11 Dc14 On Off )

This video (ostensibly for a DC08, but the procedure should be pretty much identical) shows how to take the unit apart, get at and test the on/off switch, and replace it if need-be.

How do I change the on/off swich on a DC08 allergy

Hi there,
The switch failing is about the most common problem for the Dyson DC08. I have made a video of how to access the switch compartment and change the motor too if needed. Once you can see the switch it simply unclips and a new one goes in. Have a look at the video I think it is pretty straightforward. If you need somewhere to buy the switch check out nelson vacuums or vacuumspot.
Please take the time to leave a testimonial, thumbs up or review. I appreciate your feedback!
