Mitsubishi WS-55908 Rear Projection. Doesen't Stay on.

Mitsubishi WS-55908. Rear Projection...

The TV doesn't turn on or doesn't stay on.
When I turn it on the power button lights up like it's coming on for about 3 sec then it goes out. Like it is turned off.
What is the problem?

    Hey Slinteriors,
Thanks for getting back to me. I did what you asked and as you most likely already know it is a error code 22.

2 fast blinks -short pause- 2 fast blinks longer pause then repeats
    10 times and goes out.

So it is a error code of 22 or the error code of 2222222222.

    Looking forward to your response.
    Thanks again.

Have you tried to access the self diagnosis feature by holding the menu and device/input buttons on the set both in together for five seconds to see if the led will blink a two digit code such as two blinks pause two blinks for a 22 error? Try that and let me know the blink code and i can assist you.

yes thats the code for short protect. The first thing to check is two green pico fuses on the center board with an ohms meter. They are in the photo if either of them are open ( no continuity) that means the convergence Ics and picos need to be replaced. They are located just to the left of the large capacitors and will have f9A04 and F9A05 stamped on the board

The Color On My Mitsubishi Rear Projection Tv model- WS-55908 looks to be off, picture looks blue and Yellow.

its sounds like the convergence on your TV needs to be adjusted. (this adjusts all of the color guns in the back of the tv to line them up again, when they get off, you start to get yellow blue or red halos around objects in the picture. In the setup menu on your TV under picture or Display there will be an item that says "convergence" follow the instructions in there so all the crosses on the screen no longer have colored halos anymore.

My poor mitsubishi 55908 just lost it's picture after working flawlessly for 10 years. The sound is still there, but the screen just went dark. Is this something that is repairable? Thanks!

hi,
This is a high voltage problem, but first try turning up the screen voltage located on the focus block. This requires opening the back of the TV, be careful of dangerous high voltage. See if there's a picture after turning up the red, green, blue, voltage adjustments, if not then vertical sweep, Flyback, or convergence need servicing. This repair shouldn't cost more than $300.00 dollars, maybe less. Contact me at my link below so I can help you further. If this helps please rate :-)
Thanks..

Hi, I have a WS-55908 Mitsubishi tv, I turn it on

Do the self check this set has--when you turn on and power light comes on and then goes off:

On the front of the set press both the Menu and Input (device) buttons at the same time and hold them for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light will then blink a two digit error code--the most common is 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---it will repeat it several times.

Let me know what you find and I will tell you what it means---based on your description I bet you get 2,2 error code.

If this has helped you rate this solution as I do this here for free.

WS-55908 remote control

Take out the batteries or simply reprogram the remote by using the manual search function on the remote. There is probably a couple of different settings in the remote for this type of TV set, Good Luck
