Need help with epson pos

Hi, I have a epson im 310 touchscreen pos unit. I bought it used. Have everything working except the cash drawer. A friend gave me a cash drawer, it has two wires coming from the solenoid. I am trying to figure out which connection to use at the back of the im 310. I can see a 24v out 3 pin plug and a 6 pin telephone plug. Any ideas guys. Thanks

Its not the relephone plug the 24 v wires sound about right i believe the telephone plug would be for credit/debit card sales via a built in modem and magnetic card reader hook up the wires first by stripping them back and electrical taping them together put drawer in and plug it in should work if not switch wires try again once it works either solder or use a **** conector or wire nut and tape to ensure it doesnt ground out

PP8000B printer just prints garbage..and Cash drawer doesn't open have tried the O POS manager , tried almost everything .. Any suggestions welcome...HELP

Every POS software has commands that opens the cash drawer and prints the ticket. It also controls how long the receipt ticket is, if it prints in color. Then there are two types of cables that communicate between the cash drawer and the printer to pop the drawer. Then there are dip switches in the printer that change how the printer operates according to the software. When it prints garbage, the driver that comes from the POS software is not synced with the printer. Sorry you asked. Call the POS Software company.

Hi Jon,
The cable from the cash drawer plugs into the receipt printer, not the computer. If you plugged everything into computer as you said, this is your problem. A tech not familiar with POS systems would not know this.

The cash drawer is loking for a signal from the printer to fire the drawer. It is usually on one of the pins of the cable comming from the printer. You will probably have to contact the cash drawer manufacture for that information.

You can contact Southeast Digital Networks, Inc. for more info.

Cash Drawer Command

The cashdrawer is SERIAL, you'll need to connect it to a COM port. The
software you're using has to be capable of sending data to the COM port
the cashdrawer is connected to when the cashdrawer needs to be opened.
From the site you mentioned:

Be sure drawer lock is not engaged.
Exit your system to a DOS prompt. Type the following commands (substitute
the correct com port for com1):
c:\>mode com1:300,n,8,1
c:\>echo "000000000000000000000">com1
The cash drawer should open.

About the cashdrawer RJ11 connection on the printer: You can connect any
solenoid driven cashdrawer to this port. The port uses pin 2 and 4 for
the voltage output, which is normally 24V on Epson receipt printers.
Sending a specific ESC character (every POS software should be capable of
doing this) to the printer will be recognized by the printer and the
printer puts 24V on the 2 pins mentioned for 300ms and voila, the drawer
opens.
